Mass Effect 2, big time. Sure it was more of a shooter than the original, but everything seemed more polished.
Red Dead Redemption was another for me. Amazing landscape of the Wild West, likable main character, and strong controls.Comment

Re: Which game or games live up to the Hype!!!!
I was thinking the exact same thing.
I'm going to throw a couple of iphone games in for kicks.
Axe in face - fun surpassed expectations of fun on the phone.
AND CRIME CITY...game is UBER addicting and built to last a long time. I check in 2 or 3 times a day and keep building my hood and robbing others lol I thought 'meh I'll check it out' and now play it everyday.
I guess I really need to check out deus ... it will have to wait though until I'm done with Skyrim which will be at the top of the list in this thread imo.Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.Comment

Re: Which game or games live up to the Hype!!!!
Games that have lived up to the hype for me on this gen:
Batman Arkham City/Asylum - these 2 titles are the best video games I have ever played
NBA 2K11 - no doubt along with the Show the GOAT in console sports
MLB The Show 11 - read above
Dead Space/Dead Space 2 - Amazing story, atmosphere. Right behind the Batman series for me
Fallout 3 - I am still only 45 hours in.
Borderlands - Love this title.
Deus Ex - really cool game all the way around
Uncharted 2 - Hey I am Indiana Jones!
Bioshock - Creepy...just flat out creepy.
NCAA 12 - I know crazy right? Love this game as it is my favorite console football title ever depsite the patches and moaning and groaning around these parts
Skyrim - let's not fool ourselves....it will be amazing no doubt in my mind. 11/11 can;t get here soon enough.
Battlefield 2 - Best FPS I ever had played till....
Battlefield 3 - Insane MP fun (once the servers are cliking right in a few weeks).
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1 & 2 - hours upon hours of comic book fun with my son on these titles.
Metal Gear Solid 4 - I am a huge Snake fan and have played this series from it's NES roots. A tremedous game.
CH2K8 - How can I forget.
Lego Batman, Star Wars(all of them), Indiana Jones (original trilogy) - My son and I love playing these together. We have played Batman and Star Wars 2 times over already. We have not even touched Harry Potter yet and look forward to Pirates as well.
Some really great games in that list. To me all timeless. All will be played for many more years to come.Last edited by Armor and Sword; 10-26-2011, 10:50 AM.Now Playing on PS5:

Re: Which game or games live up to the Hype!!!!
I guess it is because all of the games I listed were from 2011 only. I did not list anything from the past.
Now if I did that I would have had a huge list
Either way it is no biggie 2011 of further back it's all good.
I was focused on 2011, but I did not specify.Simply *Magic* Just click the link and Watch :)

That's not even an opinion, it's simply a fact. One of the few shooter games out there that actually make the single player experience first and foremost and that is unfortuanately becoming a rarity these days.
