Does anybody have this on PS4 and have done the import of the original Rocksmith?

Are you required to have owned/played the game? I looked for the "pack" in the Rocksmith store and cannot find the $9.99 pack for importing those other songs.

To answer my own question for anybody out there wondering as well:

Via the Rocksmith 1 shop you buy a $9.99 export pack and then you go to the Rocksmith2014 shop and download the import pack.

I did tinker around in RS1 and really liked the way the journey mode was set-up as it felt very similar to a Career in Rock Band or Guitar Hero. Outside of that I found the game kind of difficult to navigate and a bit clumsy in its overall presentation.

        Re: Rocksmith

It seems like I will take breaks from the game and then come back with a full head of steam and play non-stop for weeks.

I've been practicing Pearl Jam's Elderly Woman Behind The Counter in a Small Town recently. Its funny to realize just how much of Rocksmith's design has seeped through as I am practicing. Breaking down songs into segments and positions really made this an easy song to learn even though I never learned CADD9 previously. Taking things slow and then gradually building up to the proper speed. And then of course just going through the song again and again to really nail it down. It reminded me how much fun it was to learn a new song.

All basic, simple techniques, but they all make things easier and more fun to learn.

I also downloaded some new songs, particularly China Grove and got into Born on the Bayou last night. Perhaps I'm abnormal, but songs are typically intimating to me. They sound great and I often think they're more complex than what they ultimately end up being. For the most part, however, they're all just doing the same scale and progression over 2 or 3 or 4 different positions. I felt like that piece finally slipped into place last night. Its a great feeling to finally realize something and it immediately improve your playing and composition.

As a barre chord, or as a normal one... like...

If so, that's quite surprising. I use that chord in half the songs I play on regular acoustic guitar haha.

            Normal.

For some reason I've never run into it before.

The DLC this week is a 5 song Black Keys pack:
              Howlin' For You
              Thickfreakness
              Little Black Submarines
              Lonely Boy
              Your Touch

I've been listening to Brothers a lot lately so I'm pumped for this.

                Anyone still playing this?

I've been playing for a little while, but I'm not that good. The tagline "learn guitar in 60 days with Rocksmith" is a joke, but the game is good for what it is, I suppose. I basically just treat it like Guitar Hero because I find the lessons more detrimental than helpful.

When I realised I couldn't learn guitar with Rocksmith alone I looked into online material and found JustinGuitar which is really good. I am struggling a bit to combine chord changed with rhythm, plus I'm practicing on an electric guitar so the beginner songs don't really sound like they should.

I go through spurts, but I always keep an eye open for the DLC. I need to get the Judas Priest additions, but the last pack I actually bought was the Tenacious D pack.

This is a good tool to use in combination with other materials. I actually just ordered a couple of lesson books today from Amazon (Complete Hal Leonard Guitar Method, Complete Practical Theory, and a chord wheel) to help me build a better understanding of the "whys/hows" of music.

JustinGuitar is great, too. His song lessons are very easy to understand and he does a great job of explaining in his normal lessons.

                    Re: Rocksmith

There's an insane amount of DLC available for this game. There was a steam sale on the songs and it was still costing well over a thousand pounds to buy all of the DLC available at that time.

If any of you have the PC version, you owe it yourself to check out CustomsForge.com

There is endless amount of CDLC available at no cost. Other users create songs that you would normally not see in an official DLC. Because of this, not all of the songs are perfect, but it has made Rocksmith 2014 so much more fun.

Let me know if you have any questions. I'm happy to assist anyone on getting started!

How does the difficulty scaling work with those custom made songs?
