JASF: Jane's Advanced Strike Fighter (PC/360/PS3)

Has anyone played or purchased this game yet? Saw it in the store and was curious for some impressions. Here's a few vids..

EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.

I'll probably grab it for PC if the reviews are decent. Cant read any right now.

What a difference from the old Jane's titled games.

When I see a Jane's game I expect a flight manual to comes with it. Those manual's use to explain lift on heli's and jets. Not to mention advanced techniques like auto-rotation, like I would ever need to do it.

This is totally stripped down from the flight sims of the early 90's. I think I'll pass but thanks for sharing. There might be hope for something like that again.

Sign of the times I guess. Sucks. I used to study my Falcon manual for hours.

Same! Those days are long gone. Falcon 4.0 and Janes AH-64D were two of the greatest flight sims ever.

Just from reading some simple press about this game, I can tell it's no where close to what used to be considered a flight-sim.

I still fly F4, but the Jane sims are a part of my youth.

Off topic: I don't see many flight sim threads. Any of you guys fly the DCS sims (A-10 or Black Shark)?

How does F4 work nowadays? Are there people still keeping it alive with graphic updates or something? Been a long time and I no longer have any of the gear (Joystick, throttle, rudders).

I do remember the A-10 sim, but barely. What I do remember was the flight model was kinda floaty.

There is a new A-10 sim released last year. Pretty much the genre standard now.

There was a new Falcon 4 update by the the community. Updated graphics and 3D interactive cockpit. It's called Falcon 4 BMS and was released in September. You just need the original disk to update it.
