Thought I'd watch a playthrough to see what all the fuss is about. (Already assumed nothing since the Uncharted games were crap.)

Still quite early and I'll put this in a spoiler anyway though I really don't think it counts but this is really bothering me...

what's so special about their guns? As opposed to picking up the guns off of all those guys they just shot and doing whatever they were going to do with those instead? It was also implied they could easily get,if they weren't already expecting,more guns. They MUST have the original guns but why?

Thanks. I think you're right on that part. i don't think you can stealth through it. I just watched three walkthrough videos by three different players and they all essentially did exactly what you described (which is almost exactly what I ended up doing last night...minus the swagger. ).

I guess I'm getting a little frustrated with stealth killing as the game progresses in general though. Even on Normal, it's beginning to get impossible for me.

This all started when:

Ellie got the sniper rifle and I had to clear a path for us.

And in EVERY enemy situation since...

I keep getting seen and alerting the entire field. This isn't a big deal but I was under the impression that almost every level could be achieved quietly.

I'm currently Googling "The Last of Us stealth advice." Would anyone care to give me some pointers (even in the scenes I described above because I intend on playing through this game several times)? I hate to go all guns-blazing because it kind of kills the realism/immersion for me when I over use it. And lately, I haven't really had much of a choice because I keep getting caught.

It's like the greatest game I've ever played but the last hour or two I've completely been unable to use any strategy.

i dont mind sharing some tips.

first off, when you enter an area take a moment to scan for how many Infected/Human are in the area by using Listening Mode. learn their walking patterns so you can attack them when thier back is turned.

to stay quiet, either strangle them or use your Shiv.

When dealing with Humans, dont attack them in view of other Humans. either sneak up on them when they are alone or lure them away by throwing a brick or bottle.

if your not ready do battle and 1 of them is coming your way, throw a brick or bottle in the opposite direction to buy yourself some more time.

the Bow & Arrow weapon USE IT! it kills humans and Runners in 1 shot and doesnt alert others around you like when you use a gun. DO NOT use it on Clickers.

oh and remember to stay crouched when sneaking up on enemies.

now with saying all that, sometimes you stealth isnt really possible and your just gonna have to shoot and fight your way through. like when too many enemies are close together in a room or area. in that case, just do what u can to eliminate them.

also

the smoke bombs can be helpful when they are a bunch humans in one spot. if you have a weapon you can kill them all while thier blinded.

I don't like how you state Uncharted games are crap. It's a highly acclaimed series, and because you aren't fond of em doesn't make em crap.

Just finished it. That ending was an ending.

And by that, I mean it wasn't happy or sad. It simply just was an ending. Don't get that too often anywhere. Kind of nice. Fall and Winter were my favorite sections of the game. Story was definitely top notch, mainly because of Joel and Ellie's interactions that weren't in cutscenes. Also, Joel is one cold man for some of the stuff he did. Especially at the end with Marlene. The only part of the game that truly creeped me out was the subway early on. After that, it was more just being nervous. I actually prefer that to being scared by games, so that isn't a negative.

Favorite part was finally killing that sick ****, David.

I'd give it a 9.5, I ran into that nerf gun problem Naughty Dog has a few times and it kind of irked me. Still tons better UC3, which I thought was vastly overrated. Definitely something everyone should play if they get the chance.

Regarding the above: It kills clickers in one shot as well if you hit them in the head.

Anyone have any issues loading there saved games. Wondering if my file is corrupted???.

Curious why you say not to use it on Clickers. You can kill also Clickers with a single shot (head shot) and if you miss, they'll either chase the sound of the arrow or start attacking the direction it came from (as long as you aren't too close) giving you a chance to try again or recover with a shiv. You still have a chance to recover the arrow if it doesn't break, so it's a great way to conserve supplies (particularly shivs, since they are also needed to open certain doors and there are certain areas where you don't have the space for using the bow safely).

Perfect example of why this games dope. When they did the dip i was like "cant wait to get out of here and see a cut scene of one if not both dying". By the end of the act i felt for both. I came back to realize its survival. I felt like they somewhat humanize us for that part in the story.

Although I didn't buy this game for the online. I have been playing it a lot lately and it is really addictive it kinda has a Gears of War feel for the toolboxes. Does anyone else play this/ is there some sort of OS online community for it.

I've been playing it a lot too. I liked the UC3 multiplayer, and I like this one too. Having trouble keeping all my people alive though with these missions.

last night. The conversation between Joel and Ellie on the drive there was just great. Found the workbench and have upgraded my arsenal. Ellie is starting to become more active in our encounters, with her quips and here uncanny accuracy with a brick. Love how their relationship is developing as the game progresses.

Will be jumping right back in the game tonight, after the NBA finals.
