Think I'm gonna leave work early today and play some mp. Wish I understood how the mp portion worked. Days/Weeks/Clans. Just to confusing right now but the mp is fun/bad as hell!!!

Re: The Last of Us (PS3)
Anyway, as each day (or match) passes, based on the number of parts you receive in the match determines the number of supplies you have brought in to support whatever number of survivors you have (hope this makes sense). If you don't reach the number of supplies you need, your people start getting hungry and sick and could potentially die.
Then there are missions. I find them as more of a hassle, but they bring more importance to each day (or match). You'll find out what they are if you haven't already.
I really enjoy the gameplay in MP and the urgency to keep all my survivors alive and healthy. (I don't really know what happens if everyone dies, though. You probably just start over?)Comment

Re: The Last of Us (PS3)
Last of Us has the best story of any single player game i've ever played.
The End
SpoilerI thought we were going to be given a choice at the end to either save Ellie or help the Fireflies. I was conflicted during the entire hospital section leading up to the OR scene. I made up my mind that I was going to save Ellie no matter what. When I entered the room I was still conflicted but I shot the doctor as the nurses screamed. I held up the gun to shoot one of the screaming nurses but I couldn't do it. I picked up Ellie and walked out.
Next up is the multiplayer and maybe another playthough. I've never replayed a single player story but this will be my first.Last edited by WildFan22; 06-26-2013, 03:19 PM.Comment

Re: The Last of Us (PS3)
After last night I'm 75% done with this game. The Walking Dead game still attached me to the characters more but that's probably because each choice I made really mattered. This game does not give you that kind of freedom (imagine if it did) but it still does a great job with the main characters, voice acting etc. This game is an instant classic and well worth the wait. Xbox owners are missing some greatness right here! This is more than a game, it's really just something you have to dive into yourself to see.Comment

Re: The Last of Us (PS3)
Basically you and your survivors just have 12 weeks to survive. In the beginning as you did, you chose between the two clans. At the end of the 12 weeks, you have the option to switch.

I think this is the rationale behind the statements it is the "greatest multiplayer ever conceived," don't know if I can fully say that right now, but the fun factor is pretty high. More fun than Uncharted and COD for sure, it really rewards tactical play. It is nice that punches aren't as strong as bullets as they were in Uncharted 3 MP. When you get killed, you don't feel cheated.
A survivor match from last night that was pretty intense...

Re: The Last of Us (PS3)
To me this is the genius behind the MP. You have to play aggressively or your people will die. Especially, if you don't meet the requirements of the missions. Right now I have 80 survivors, and it starts getting pretty damn difficult to keep them supplied. Last night I was forced to take risks I wouldn't normally take and paid the price. Makes each match very intense. I survived the first 12 weeks as a Firefly and now I am a Hunter in Week 4.

Re: The Last of Us (PS3)
The MP is pretty damn awesome (imo)...as I've mentioned before, only 2 gamemodes right now (Supply raid and survivor) but each mode really requires a good team to stay competitive and get enough supplies to help your clan.
Last night playing (I'm in week 12) I had a Firefly attack and had to pick my mission....my stupid *** picked "mark enemy"...well needless to say I wasn't able to meet my quota, and went from 71 survivors down to 40.
So you really need to choose wisely in the particular mission you pick, and try not to stay with the same one over and over,as eventually it will be really difficult to get your quota, and keep your clan alive.People are for reviews if it backs their argument, and against them when they don't.“I believe the game is designed to reward the ones who hit the hardest – If you can’t take it, you shouldn’t play!” Jack Lambert“Quarterbacks should wear dresses.” Jack LambertComment

Some more analysis courtesy of the GameInformer crew:
ENDING SPOILER WARNING!!!
My thoughts...
SpoilerI can't say I agree with much, if anything, that they said. Joel as a "homicidal maniac"? I don't agree with that at all. First of all, you can't apply standards from our society to the world Joel lives in (or the world of video games in general). Every person he encounters is aggressive. Infected or not, the game makes no distinction. I don't recall an instance in the game where you could just walk up to one of these rifle-toting sentries and not get attacked. Try it and I bet they gone you down. Joel knows this through 20 years worth of experience.
Secondly, they seem 100% certain that Ellie was ready to sacrifice herself. To me, this isn't clear at all. Based on what? The story she told about her friends dying and her having survivor's guilt? It's a brave notion, but at the end of the day she's a 14 year-old girl who might not be in the best frame of mind after her run-in with David to make such a decision. Also, she makes other statements that directly contradict her feelings that she should die because her friends died, like when she says to Joel (in Salt Lake City I believe), "When this is all over..." IMO she's torn up and guilt-ridden over a lot of things, but she certainly isn't ready to die.Last edited by TeddyKGB; 06-26-2013, 04:29 PM.Comment

SpoilerYeah, I agree with you on both Joel and Ellie's feelings. Joel has obviously done some things to survive, but they were all done in the name of survival. He also seems to have been left a bit hollow inside after what happened to his daughter. But, regardless of all that, he was still put in an environment where, chances are, the guy you meet is looking to kill you. They never showed Joel as a hunter (though they hinted at it), they didn't show him as a cannibal, they didn't show him as a bloodthirsty looter.
As for Ellie, she showed she wanted to get to Salt Lake City, to the Fireflies, but she didn't show an eagerness to die. If anything, she was as much of a pure survivor as Joel. In the end though, we don't know because the Fireflies didn't seem to have given her a chance to choose, or Joel a chance to ask. In fact, she seemed completely in the dark so she must have never even been conscious after being revived from the near drowning.Comment

Re: The Last of Us (PS3)
Just finished the game. All I can say is wow what an amazing game. I cannot wait to see what Naughty Dog does on the PS4.
Ended up with 22hours and 23 minutes played.
Found 112 collectibles
In regard to the ending
SpoilerI was not expecting it to end like that. I thought they would return to his brother's area and possibly find that the infection had finally got them as well. I don't really like open ended endings but it also allows the payer to infer about what happens. It does set up the fact that there may be a possible sequel though. Overall it was an amazing experience and one that I feel should not be missed.
I think I would say this is definitely the best game I have played this gen, and has me excited for the next generation when they were able to accomplish something like this on the current gen.Comment
