    Alan Wake: American Nightmare (360)

XBLA Alan Wake 'Effectively Alan Wake 2'
    "It's not a small game."

The upcoming downloadable installment of Alan Wake, rumored to be called Alan Wake: Night Springs, may be bigger than previously thought. In Xbox Live Director of Programming Larry Hryb (Major Nelson)'s newest podcast, it's revealed that the game is actually a full-fledged follow-up.

"I've seen the game. I've seen the trailer we're showing, and even though it's going to be a downloadable game, it's not a small game," said Geoff Keighley, organizer of the Video Game Awards, where the game is set to be revealed. "I mean, it effectively is, I think, Alan Wake 2 when you really look at it and look what they're doing with that game."

The game's rumored title screen, courtesy of XBLA Fans.

Keighley added that the game is "really ambitious, beautiful technology" and that "people are going to be really excited about it."

The game is set to be revealed at the VGAs this Saturday. While we don't know many details yet, be sure to check out the game's teaser trailer.
I think we have this new game mentioned in both the Alan Wake and XBLA thread. I still have to play the first one, but glad to see this franchise moving forward with a sequel.

Man, I've had the first game since release, and have yet to finish it. I even bought all the DLC for it.

Yes, yes, yes and yes. I loved Alan Wake and I normally don't go anywhere near scary games or movies. I'm a huge skirt.

My first impressions are that yes, it is similar to the original Alan Wake but so far I'm about half way through the first stage and the game is pretty darn good. I had my first flinch moment a couple of minutes ago. lol It doesn't seem like it's going to be very long but it does have decent replay value as you try to find your manuscripts. Overall, I give it an 8 just because I really enjoyed the first one and this is very close if not better than that one.

Just bought mine and am waiting for it to download whilst I sleep. Should be a fun play through, I adore the original game so excited by Davis saying it's similar.

Re: Alan Wake: American Nightmare (360)

So I finished the Story mode last night. Enjoyed it, really whet my appetite for Alan Wake (Season) 2. I love how after the credit roller we get the line similar to "Alan Wake Will Return"

Got all but 4 of the Manuscript pages so definitely will get 1 more play through from me. Felt like certain elements of the story made the game seem artificially lengthened but it could have been worse. The voice acting for the doctor was atrocious though!

I'd give it 7.5/10 and definitely worth downloading for those needing a Wake fix!

I finally got around to this and so far really like it. I like the characters and how the story is different from the original game. I also like the little twist of a challenge Alan has to deal with.

I wasn't expecting the first level to just end like that. Thought I'd get to get to explore. Haven't played it since though I did like what I played.

Alan Wake was a strange game for me. I didn't like the combat, which got repetitive on top of disliking it, but I kept coming back for more. American Nightmare seems a bit faster paced and they added the sci fi motif. I liked listening to the radio broadcasts.

I grabbed this off Steam a few days ago. PC optimisation is much better this time around, with the same settings I was using in the original game I'm getting around 10fps more.

The story seems fun so far, I love the change in tone but hope that we get a fully fledged sequel in the next couple of years. And day one for PC please Remedy!
