    I have a bit of a problem..... (BF 1942)

Does anyone think I will be able to fly airplanes and control tanks/vehicles alright without a controller? I bought a controller off of eBay. But the thing doesn't have a USB Cable and is a rather old model of the Microsoft Sidewinder Gamepad. It has the Gameport on it and not the USB cable. Anyways I was wondering if anyone knew if I could still control the planes/vehicles without a controller? I have heard it is more difficult, but is it impossible?

    Thanks for any help guys!

I wouldn't worry about man. I played the first installment with the keyboard and mouse and driving the tanks are a breeze. You use the basic movements, forward, back, left, right, SIMPLE to do and yet fun. (unless you have one arm) Flying on the other hand is a bit tricky. I never really did get the hang of it with mouse\keyboard. I'm sure you'll get the feel for it if you practice enough.

The preferred method of driving the tanks and jeeps are with the keyboard and mouse. it is very easy.

The planes are different. You need a joystick for planes.

Jeeps and tanks handle just fine with the keyboard and mouse. I have a joystick for the planes, it is pretty difficult to fly with out one. I have a cheap Gravis joystick I bought for $10 that does the job.

Just practice offline. I got preety good at controlling the vehicles by practicing offline. The funny thing is I never grab any vehicles when I play online, too many people camping.

I finally got my PC up and running and played BF1942 first. I think it's a pretty good game. You all were right about tanks and jeeps. Surprisingly flying the planes without a joystick was possible but it was hard. I geuss I'll have to get me a cheap joystick soon. Thanks again guys!
