    Xenoblade: The Musical

I picked this up today and will post impressions later. Anyone else get it? This wasn't on my radar, but it was getting such good reviews (and I really liked how people were saying the game goes off the JRPG reservation) that I gave in.

The game looks a lot like a PS2 title. I think they could have done a little bit better to make it look cleaner.

It is a mix of JRPG and something like WOW. It is important to let your tank build up some ARRGO (?) before pulling off a special attack like back stab. The game does have a different feel to it.

I spent some more time with the game and like it. It's fun to go exploring and the combat system is simple yet it feels like you can use strategy. I think the characters still fit in to the JRPG cliche without being over the top. Main character isn't very emo or brooding.

DAMN. I hate to troll on graphics, but it is somewhat difficult for me to get into the game when it looks so dated. Maybe I need to pretend like it's a gaming classic I am revisiting.

Game looks great with the right set-up.

Very grandiose in scale as well. Utter joy to explore, utter pain against big bosses. Level early folks!

Best RPG I've had the pelasure of playing since final fantasy crystal chronicles on GameCube(yeah I said it!)

Great cut scenes that interweave into the story and action you have to be involved with as well.

It's hard to argue its faults when there are many and those that show are just pretty much tolerable as well.

Can you expand on this statement?

What I have found is that I have adjusted to the older looking graphics. I am having a lot of fun with the game. I am working my way through my first dungeon and found that they stuck some higher level monsters in the dungeon. I am stuck with one huge lizard creature that keeps wiping my party out. Edit: I went back and did some side quests to level up and took the lizard down. It was still a challenging fight. This game seems like an improved version of the mechanics used in FF 12 and Monster Hunter.

I am glad I got the game because I fear it is one of those titles Nintendo will short change in America (making it hard to find as time goes on)

I'm using a Wii2Hdmi adapter that forces the output of the wii to be full 480p with no signal loss. Meaning its upscaled to play on a hdtv through.

Signal loss is a BIG deal when you use component thats only 480p on a hdtv, so have a clear digitally made/upscaled image from the i onto your hdmi does WONDERS.

Check out youtube vids and sewell's own website for the converters/adapters they can go for as low as 30-35 bucks if found right.

makes a WORLD of difference and just make the overall picture more robust/stronger like the expanded settings on the 360 or ps3 or what have you.

BUT this game is absolutely the best adventure game ive played in probably 5 years.

It's sprawling landscapes its amazing gameplay within it's settings and the player interaction is top notch.

There's my love for sports games and then something like this...

BTW I think one of the best features of the game, one I hope others implement, is that when you finish a quest you do NOT have to return to the quest giver. Thank the gaming gods.

Only just now saw this thread.

Having beaten this game last year after its European release (gogo import), I can say this much with enough time passed and enough thought:

Xenoblade is the greatest RPG I have ever played. Very realistically, it is right at the top shelf of games I have ever played.*

It isn't perfect. it isn't without its flaws. But the total package? Amazing! And I was super hyped for this game to boot. And the hype wasn't just met, it was blown away.

Yeah, Xenoblade is a great game. I had no problem looking past the non-HD graphics because I still felt the game looked great on a 42" LCD screen. Not HD but I didn't really mind. The scope and scale of the game is amazing. It really is a high quality game. I have only played 30 hours of it so far though. I feel I have a very long way to go and I haven't touched in a week or 2. I will definitely get back into it though because it is quite a good game.

Game is a must buy must play and must experience...

It's arguably my favorite game of all time . I'm 41 hrs in level 36 and honestly ONLY 35% done with the game.

This game is like having 20 Hyrule's in it!

Its grandiose and isnt lacking in anything at all

Music is superb. Graphics though my wiihdmi adapter are crisp and beautiful and better than ANY HD game Ive seen this gen thanks to the sheer scope of it's artistry.

Calling this game a freakin "musical" like the topic creator did is a travesty.

I'm not that far into the game (just to where they start their journey or so they say), but I'm really enjoying it. The music is superb and I like the British voice acting. I'm still getting used to the combat; this auto attacking thing is... different. But it is 100x better than turn based combat and no random encounters is a plus. The visuals are beautiful even without HD. The areas are large and fun to explore.

Hopefully I'll finish this before July when The Last Story comes out.
