Oh My! Offline Raimbow Six is'nt that bad

I had to put the headset down for a little bit and try out the one player mode. I must say, its pretty damn fun. I thought it was gonna be another RTCW and suck major balls. But I was suprised.

Only thing I dont like so far is that its real dumbed down from the PC version or even the dreamcast version. I always liked on the PC version having the red, blue and yellow teams, having to design a plan and set orders for each team before the mission starts. One of the fun things about R6 was watching a plan work. And now, you cant even switch your team mates, you cant assign weapons to them, there is no planning screen, its just totally dumbed down. But despite all that, its still fun to make your guys follow orders. I just wished I commanded 3 teams instead of one.

Also, compared to the PC version, the level design seems kinda linear. Well, its not tottally linear but its always 1 or 2 ways you can go instead of 3 or sometimes 5 ways you can go on the PC version.

The AI is pretty stupid on the normal difficualty (cant think of the exact name of the difficulty, but the middle one) They stand and look stupid when a guy 5 yards away from them caught a bullet in the head and dies and they just stay in position. I hope on harder levels that the AI is smater and not just have better aim like most difficultys are basicall for.

But what are you guys thoughts if you played the single player campaign?

Don't put the headset down for single player mode!

I played a bit last night, and using voice commands, and hearing radio chatter though the headset is really fun and immersive.

Pretty good. It was more a matter of finding the correct phrase than voice recognition. Once I had the right phrase, it worked just fine.

Fossen's right...the headset for single player is cool. Once you get over the idea of talking to your tv by yourself of course They list commands in the book, and you can combine them together. For instance, you can say "Open, flash, and clear on zulu" and they recognize that rather than having to push buttons. Then you can go to another door or something, issue the zulu command (basically just a wait on my signal type of thing) and rush a room at the same time. Rarely I'll have to repeat something, but overall it's good to me. I just like being able to talk rather than do the buttons, makes it more realistic to me

I'm enjoying single player, takes some getting used to, but once I get through like this it'd be fun to do some missions on Xbox Live with people. Terrorist Hunt is cool, but doing actual missions will be a blast once we get used to the system. So far I'm not deep into it, and I'll have to learn how to go undetected (some future levels require it I believe). That's the key, I remember trying some online missions the first night and we'd get detected in like half a minute Luckily we found one that lets you kill, and then we realized what Terrorist Hunt actually was.

I was gonna use the headset but I wanted to learn the botton commands first before I use the headset commands. So that way I know exactly what to say instead of saying Go, Go, Go, all day.

But overall with the headset, its almost exactly like SOCOM. R6 and SOCOM are almost one in the same. R6 just looks and sounds better. On that note, I'm also gonna get SOCOM 2. I'm gonna hold off on Counterstrike, I dont need a strickly online game right now. If it had a nice single player, maybe, but since it wont, it just feels funny paying for a game thats stricky for online.
