Trailer for 3DS Castlevania Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate

    <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/lmt0aGWywqw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

This is interesting. Seems the reboot Castlevania storyline has Simon being son of Trevor who in turn is the son of Gabriel Belmont (protagonist of LoS & LoS 2) who is of course
    Spoiler
following the events of the first game. Interesting that this game has you still controlling Gabriel while the 3DS title has you facing him (assuming the voicework in that trailer at the end is who i think it is)

Really wish Mirror of Fate was an XBLA or even full release. Looks better than either LoS

Re: Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2

        Some details:
        • Lords of Shadow 2 ends the story
        • Action is set over two time threads
        • Most of the game takes place in the modern day that has been sculpted to fit the Gothic arches of Castlevania
        • The other portion of the game takes place in the castle at a different point in time
        • Environment is seamless this time around
        • Free camera control
        • QTEs have been cut back
        • Platforming has improved
        • Mission summaries have been replaced with teleporters like in Koji Igarashi’s Castlevania games
        • Combat Cross replaced with the Blood Whip
        • Magic replaced with Dracula’s blood, blood doesn’t regenerate
        • Need to earn blood with kills and skilled fighting
        • Add to your Focus gauge by evading, executing perfect blocks and counters
        • If you get hit, you lose all Focus.
        • Channel raw blood into Void and Chaos
        • Void: weapon switches to Void Sword, allowing you to regain some health with each hit
        • Chaos: weapon switches to a pair of claws that can smash through enemy shields
        • Dracula’s own tricks include glamoring mortals to control them and evaporating into a mist that lets him slip by unseen, or pass through grilles into secret areas
        • New Mastery system
        • Unlock extra moves/combos with XP
        • Each time you use an unlocked combat move, you’ll earn Mastery in that skill
        • Void Sword, Chaos Claws, or Blood Whip will level up once mastered based on the alignment of the skill
        • Level up these weapons to heal faster, break enemy defences quicker
        • If you stick to a couple of familiar combos, you’ll struggle when you get to the tougher levels
        • Titan fights are "far more expansive, and they involve full control by the player as opposed to timed button presses."

Hmm, used to love the old school Castlevania games. Just checked a vid of LoS and found it very puzzling. Looks more like God of War than Castlevania.

It seems the only connections I've seen so far is fanservice of names from older games.

The 3DS game is coming to PSN and XBLA on October 31st.

                Press Release

Mirror of Fate goes HD at Halloween!

Konami Digital Entertainment B.V. has announced it will release a timely all-new HD edition of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate to download for PlayStation®3 and Xbox 360® on October 31st.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate HD has been developed by MercurySteam and is set 25 years after the events of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, and acts as a precursor to Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 which will be released across the same formats this Winter. The game will be available digitally via PlayStation®Store and Xbox®LIVE Arcade, with prices to follow.

The HD update tells the story of Gabriel Belmont's descendants, Simon and Trevor Belmont, as they battle their own destiny only to discover their true, shocking fate. Trevor Belmont, a knight of the Brotherhood of Light, sets out to avenge the death of his mother by his father, who has returned from years of exile to take up residence in a mysterious castle. The powerful figure that was once Gabriel Belmont now stands as Dracula, a powerful vampire. Dracula has declared war upon the Brotherhood and thus the scene is set for a cataclysmic showdown between father and son.

In Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate HD, players take on the role of multiple characters, each of whom has unique abilities acquired whilst playing during the game's different eras. Featuring a huge array of combos and an intuitive strategic combat system, players can use their characters? weapons and magical abilities to take down anything in their path. The game offers huge, detailed levels and players will encounter enormous boss fights brought to vivid life within the HD presentation.

Along with the HD upgrade and gameplay refinements, including online leaderboards and the much requested "Boss Rush Mode", anyone purchasing the game will also be able to access to an exclusive playable demo of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 to whet appetites for the highly anticipated conclusion of the saga - with fans now able to experience the entire Lords of Shadow story on home systems.

"We are delighted to be able to bring Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate HD to an all-new audience," commented Dave Cox, Studio Head of European Production at Konami Digital Entertainment. "The game acts as the perfect accompaniment to the forthcoming Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 and will deliver a stunning slice of action and exploration, while unpeeling more layers regarding the lineage and true destiny of the Belmont family."

KONAMI has also announced that Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate HD will also be released as part of a new Castlevania: Lords of Shadow Collection, available via retail on the same day. This compilation features the original Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, its DLC "Reverie" and "Resurrection" chapters, and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate HD. As such, newcomers to MercurySteam's beautifully-realised world can experience the full story of Dracula and the Belmonts - and will also gain early access to the first playable demo of the series climax: Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2.

Combat looks much improved, but February release makes me sad. I was hoping for this year.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 flexes Hollywood cast

Bet Konami paid handsomely for this lot - this Hollywood lot featured in a new Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 video.

If you want a tough single player game, this is it! I am speaking of shadow 1. 2 problems, it's linear and the character and camera movement can be problematic otherwise this game rocks! Can't wait to continue the story. Oh and this game is soooooooooooo pretty! If you love vampire esk type games, give it a go.

Played and finished the first one......awesome game.

Will pick this up once it drops to 19.99 or less.....which will be sooner rather than later.

                            Look forward to it eventually.

Loved the first one now on to number 2. Big improvement in character movement from the first. One of the best scores and sounds any game I have played.
