Re: Watch Dogs
Ubisoft has come out and officially said the game isn't cancelled. Still don't know what's with the name trademark abandonment.

Re: Watch Dogs
Ubisoft needs to take their resources from this game and put it into Rainbow Six.
SpoilerSo they can delay that more too.Comment

Re: Watch Dogs
So I saw something saying this game has 110 minutes of cinematics. This kinda worries me. I mean the best part of a video game is the interactivity. I feel like overly cinematic games ruin that.
I really don't like this huge obsession with games trying to be like movies. Why try to be something that is sort of second best. Like a video game is taking the best of being able to see a movie over reading a book but adding in that sort of interactivity and ability to put your own twist on it that reading a book allows.
I think this is one thing really holding the game industry back especially in the AAA sector.Comment

A game like Skyrim is amazing, and besides the standard elderscrolls beginning you don't really see 'cut-scenes'
Mass Effect does it well but because it's interactive and deliberatly feels like an old choose your own adventure book from the 80s.Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.Comment

(I don't know if those count as cinematics in the same way, though)Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Watch Dogs
I dont mind large amounts of cinematics so long as the gameplay time trumps it significantly. When I played MGS4 the balance was way off. 10 minute sections followed by 10 minute cinematics or more was completely unacceptable. It was a movie more than a game. Thats an example of cinematics getting out of hand for me.Comment

Re: Watch Dogs
I agree, I don't mind long cinematics. It is a good way to engulf you within the story and the environment. As long as they are done right, and the games length warrants them.
Like King said, MSG4 was absolutely brutal. That is the way NOT to to do it.Cubs | Bulls | Dolphins | 'Noles

Re: Watch Dogs
Am I the only person who is kinda worried that there hasn't been any new footage of this game since before they delayed it? Or has there been some new footage and I just missed it?Comment

Re: Watch Dogs
A game that so far I feel has done a pretty good job of that balance is Company of Heroes. It's got all the WWII battles you remember and each one is introduced with a short cutscene. For example D-day you see the view from the landing craft and as soon as you get on the beach the game seamlessly transitions from the cutscene into the gameplay.
I feel like that is how it should be pretty much for all games. Now the cutscenes in CoH do have one problem and that is horrible screen tearing because I forced V-sync off. The game itself is fine but the cinematics are horrible, in that sense.
GTA V I didn't think was too bad. I thought the story was a bit short but I was willing to accept that because the MP was supposed to be so deep but it just wasn't.Comment
