Re: Elder Scrolls III: Morrowing Question...

    caseyd,

Everyone's mileage varies on this one. My friend had a launch xbox and could not load the game. I have a refurb xbox with the infamous thompson drive and have had NO freezes or lockups. Let me take that back, the game will freeze for a few seconds when its loading something, but the freeze doesnt hang the game.

I didnt play the original because of the errors people were complaining about, and i tried it on the pc and just couldnt go thru another RPG sitting in front of a monitor.

So in the end, i have had nothing but good things to say about GOTY.

Ok. Thanks for the info. I've been thinking about calling Microsoft about my drive anyway. Top Spin freezes quite a bit and so did Raw2, before I got rid of it. I have the extended warranty, so they'll fix it. I just haven't wanted to be without the box for that long.

I got a refurb xbox and the original morrowind and my copy frezzed on me at least twice so far with over 50+ hours already logged in. So you say the freezing is constant when your save file is over 200 blocks? Thanks for letting me know that, I'm at 140 or so right now. I gotta start throwing away those bodies I kill. Taking dead bodies out the game makes the save file less blocks..

Once my save file got over 200, it would freeze at least once during every session, if not more. I've heard different stuff on the dead bodies issue. Some people say it's better to let the system take care of the bodies (they disappear after a couple of days) so that it doesn't have as much to think about. Also, if you're going to store stuff, instead of keeping it in barrels and such, people have said that you should find a corpse that doesn't go away, such as the one in that manor in Balmora, and put things in the corpse. Corpses hold an unlimited amount of stuff. When you keep things on shelves and in containers, the game has to keep track of where all of it is, creating a bigger file. If it's all in one corpse, it supposedly keeps the file a lot smaller.
