Re: Saints Row 4
That doesn't make sense. It's definitely not true of all series. All series don't abandon their story lines in lieu of utterly absurd ones or take their games to a vulgar / outrageous extreme. Most series/franchises keep the games fairly the same. Assassins' Creed, Mass Effect, Halo, God of War, etc. SR1/SR2 and SR3/SR4 have very little in common.Comment

I never had a problem with the zaniness of Saints Row, if not for that, it's nothing but a GTA clone with a smaller budget...Comment

Re: Saints Row 4
I disagree. I never compared the two series even when the first SR (less crazy one) came out. But comparing the first 2 SRs to this 4th and you have completely different games, from the core to the skin of it. But at this point I've accepted it.
Scary movie-esque/parody films are successful. Thats the direction they decided to take the franchise. And people are buying it.Comment

Re: Saints Row 4
Agreed with everything here. I agree with Valadez that if they changed the name from Saints Row, it'd probably be easier to digest for me. 3 and 4 just don't feel like the same series, but even the first 2 (particularly the 2nd) felt different from GTA games to where I didn't feel like comparing them. Hell, we were already doing hilarious stuff like Septic Avenger and FUZZ in SR2.I disagree. I never compared the two series even when the first SR (less crazy one) came out. But comparing the first 2 SRs to this 4th and you have completely different games, from the core to the skin of it. But at this point I've accepted it.

Well, it's not so much about comparing the two games...but at their core they are open world crime games...I disagree. I love the ridiculous idea that the Saints have gone from a local street gang to this huge organization...I think 2 more games of your standard street gang on the rise would've been very meh. That's just me though..
I have to say this game has kept me entertained enough that I have considered buying it...these missions/ side missions are pretty damn entertaining..Comment

Re: Saints Row 4
I'm with you Valdarez. As someone who has played through the first two saints row games, twice, I played 1 hour of the third and took it back to the rental place. It's so evident that the series has mailed it in. The first two saints row games keep the same basic story lines and the same city, stillwater, but added more things with the second game. They still had some over the top game play, but still stuck with a story line. The gags of the third and fourth may be good for some young teens, but how long are those gags funny for? You still have to have a coherent story. I consider myself a protector/fan of the row and hate the direction the game is going. It's not even the same game. That doesn't make sense. It's definitely not true of all series. All series don't abandon their story lines in lieu of utterly absurd ones or take their games to a vulgar / outrageous extreme. I wouldn't exactly say they've taken it to an extreme when even early on they had ridiculous side missions involving septic trucks, 4 wheeling while on fire, and playing with traffic. The scale has gotten bigger, but I think the core is very much the same. That doesn't make sense. It's definitely not true of all series. Like a lot of series they have shed certain aspects and brought in different things, but I think it keeps the IP from getting stale.

Re: Saints Row 4
I'm kinda regretting buying this game. I might just take this and trade it in so I can preorder the new Pokemon or get Mario and Luigi Dream Team. Game just feels like it's missing something.Comment
