Here's my experience with rented servers. Get kicked for doing to well or not well enough, host if losing starts kicking players from winning team, grab a vehicle and booted because the host or his team wants them, on winning team then get moved over to other side mid match, ridiculous amount of tickets for servers, strict rules of you can't do this or can't use that etc. Basically the lunatics run the asylum plus the official servers were bascially gone or buried so deep in the server browser. I spent most of my time in BF3 in the server browser than actually playing.

I want to know all the secrets! I've seen crazy stuff wondering how it happens or where people go!

on a side note about your dog tags comment - I have MANY claymore kills but the page says 0 ... there is no way it has to do with others updating in my case, but I'm starting to wonder if they even count as kills.

you must join the sasquatch party to know the secrets.

And claymore kills don't count on Battlelog for recon, same with C4 for support. The kills count, but for some reason just the visual count on battlelog is bugged

I have an xboner, and all you guys are on ps4...
I'm starting to regret it a little, but I won't assess until after a year. (at which point I'll probably be still playing bf4)

I just don't like when that stuff happens and turns me off. I know OS run servers would be the best because everyone here is mature and play to have a goodtime. As long as they keep the official servers visable than I am fine with rented servers. Ea and dice should be more worried about fixing the issues with the game before squeezing more money out of it's customers.

I'm with Stormy. If Dice can do a better filtering system between rented and official servers, whilst maintaining a strong number of official servers I have zero issue with the whole thing.

At first rented servers were ok on BF3...then I hated hated hated them. I did manage to fine a few that were decent though. But overall I found myself looking for the official servers. Just not fun getting kicked all the time.

I didn't play BF3 so I'm unfamiliar with this rented server thing. What would be the benefit of them over the regular ones that we have now? And how much did they cost?

The benefit about that (sometimes can also be viewed as a negative) is that the host can change the amount of tickets etc for matches. Also can choose the map rotation. Another benefit is if you have a clan or large group of friends you can all play on that server.

I'm probably in the minority, but I feel like there should be a handful of servers for people below level 40ish. With the way things unlock in this game for Vehicles, if you don't get the game at the same time as it's released you really fall behind and it's tough to catch up.

I can't wait for the netcode fix. There was a moment in that last metro game where I shot off two bursts of the M16 at point blank on a guy, and then he one-shots me while not even looking at me. Then on the kill cam I saw mike shooting directly at him and I was saying "shoot him!" Before I realized why the guy wasn't dying. That and getting killed by LVGs and grenades *after* I round the corner to evade it just irks me. So sorry if I seemed pissy tonight. I blame netcode

Agreed. In BF3, there were plenty of "noob" servers that would kick anyone that was a colonel or higher. I never played in them, but the premise of it seemed very beneficial
