I recently just got a 12k round and went 20-1 with 3 flag captures and a boat load of spotting.
This was on the resort map which is ideal for long-mid range sniping (40x and adjustable zoom). I've started changing kits or kit customization specific for each map. The Resort map I 'camp' big-time and snip and spot and it really helps the team win - when I run out of bullets I go rambo with my impact grenades and handgun.
On other maps like flood (I don't love that map) I constantly move and if I still use recon class I change setups to have to 4x zoom or the carbines with lazer and a shotty instead of the p22. and change claymores to c4.
on railway I go back to long range sniper but keep c4 and get in an AA vehicle whenever I can because I found out that one of my favorite things to do in bf4 is shoot down jets and helicopters with AA vehicles. I pissed off a few enemies so much doing that on railway they started doing 4 kamikaze strikes until they FINALLY got me after I racked up 12 straight kills/destroy vehicles.
I really like engineer class too, but I find other recon players don't laser-lock on enough for my liking. I do that all the time and hope someone with a rocket takes them out, but I would say only 1in20 attempts someone does that. I go whole matches as an engineer sometimes without seeing anyone laser-lock.
I like healing people too, but find resupply on most maps is insignificant.
Anyway I'm way into the game now and still learning which is cool - but I still find it very hard to fly a heli and planes (which is fine) even though I've flown both in real life, it seems almost harder to control in the game!
