    Re: Battlefield 4

For those who have the PS3 Beta, answer me this question. Can you flip the L1/R1 w/ L2/R2?

That was the sole purpose of why I got rid of my BF3 PS3 version.

I have been playing the PS3 beta and while I like it the graphics are poor especially when the tower comes down and ash is all over the map. Looks like their is no detail like you're walking around on unfinished map. Looking into the distance looks rough and is hard on the eyes. Clearly this game is not meant for current consoles even though it can run on it thankfully I'll be getting the PS4 version.

Yeah, it can be brutal trying to see things, even at a relatively short distance.

My main concerns right now, which aren't real concerns, are the hit detection. I've unloaded on a few guys and got all day hit markers and get nothing from it. That's the only downside to these betas. They are so stripped down..

Still looks like it's going to be a lot of fun on the PS4.

I thought the hit detection was better. But now that I think about it I was getting a lot of hit markers, but I was wasn't getting a lot of kills. I could hit people from a long distance pretty easily, but I never was able to kill them.

I kinda like the way it shows you the guy that killed you after you die. I also love the camera that shows you what the guy you are spawning on is seeing. May help with instant spawn death.

One of the few beta glory moments: blowing up a tank with an RPG from the roof of the tower. Excellent.

There are some real WTF kills going on, though. It may be bug exploitation or simply lag (which I think I'm getting quite a bit of). I was chilling in a corner and the only way I could've died is by the guy shooting through two walls, unless he can bend his bullets. Then a second time I came up an elevator and just randomly dropped dead, but it never showed the guy that killed me or how he could have done it.

I have noticed the sound tends to be badly delayed, as well. I'll smash through glass and seconds later hear the noise.

As for GFX, yeah, I'm not paying much attention to them. Honestly this game is probably too advanced for the current generation; I have to imagine it was optimized for PC and/or PS4/XB1.

I've done some of the usual so far.

I hit a Z-11 with a RPG from the roof of C, but the guy was probably struggling to fly. Also spotted some guys down on the ground crossing the bridge so I parachuted off of the roof and landed behind them and took both sets of dogtags.. lol.

Not that I've seen. The alternative button schemes only flip L1/R1 for lefties, or crouch and stab for veterans. I prefer the 'Veteran' layout.

There should be a way to map how you want, though.

The hit detection is better. The damage on all weapons in general have been lowered back to BFBC2ish levels. So the 6 LMG bullets into a guy at 10m away is back.

I don't understand why we can remap every single button on the PC version of Battlefield, yet we're still given only three pre-sets to choose from on the console versions.

I can't be bothered to deal with the new controls right now. Veteran still isn't how I had my controls. The spot button is what screws with how I play. I guess I'll learn sometime later. Lefty Veteran is pretty close, but I find myself constantly opening the battlelog.

I don't really care for the knife button being moved. It was unique and different..

The dog tag animations are okay and I was also able to save a guy from getting his tags taken, by knifing and taking the tags of the guy attacking him. I thought that was pretty cool.

I can get used to it, I just need some more options for vehicle controls, specifically helicopters. I hate not being able to invert the right stick.

Just finished a few rounds on the 360. I gotta say. It was nice. The destruction to the buildings is awesome. I also love the way they upgraded the way grenade launchers work. You can actually target people now at distance and gauge you shot. I give it two thumbs up.
