    Re: Rage Much?!?

Back when I was a kid I used to routinely slam PS2 controllers. Broke about 3 of them. They were pretty expensive to replace so I learned to cool myself down. Now usually it's the headset I'll throw. I got mad the other night in my OD game, lost to FSU as they scored a TD as time expired to end my undefeated season. Threw my headset into a wall. Picked it up later after I simmered down and couldn't hear anything out of it so I went on Amazon and ordered another one since they're relatively cheap. I started playing with it again later and it turns out the volume was just all the way down.

But now pretty much the only thing I'll do is utter obscenities under my breath or toss the controller into something soft, like pillows. I get angrier when I lose in videogames than anything else I can think of. I have a pretty long fuse and it takes a lot for people to get under my skin.

      Re: Rage Much?!?

Anyone who knows me knows that I vent quite a bit while playing video games, but it's something that I've done for as long as I can remember. I admit, I have anger issues and general frustrations with life (too many to mention here), and I allow those issues to build up inside of me. I use video games as a means to channel and release my anger, constructively, without having to release it on the general public (especially those who are close to me). I understand that these games aren't real and should not be taken seriously. So, I use gaming as a means of therapy to release whatever's built up inside of me. Granted, I've destroyed 30-40 controllers over the past 5-10 years (in some capacity), so it can be fairly expensive. But, I'd hate to see the alternative.

BTW, I've also punched walls, kicked furniture, thrown controllers (when I lived by myself), even injured myself (stupidly). The one thing that I will not do is harm another person or break something of more value than a controller (such as more expensive electronic equipment, my house, etc).

This describes me perfectly, for some odd reason I really allow my competitive juices out in video games.

          Re: Rage Much?!?

I do a lot of yelling when playing NCAA Football and Madden, NBA 2K and some racing games. Most of my "rage" is directed toward bugs and glitches, like finishing an online dynasty game in NCAA 12 only to see it give me a disconnection error and not count the game. Or a freeze in the middle of the game. Makes me steam, put the game away, and not want to look at it for a day or two. Freezes and errors drive me crazy. Oh and the RROD. I had a pretty good "rage" moment the first time that happened.

As far as gaming difficulty frustrations, when I first got Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit for 360 (last year I think), I got stuck on one of the earlier time trials and after failing for what felt like the 20th time in an hour, I threw the 360 box (w/o the game in it) against the wall and shattered part of the plastic. Slammed my controller on the floor and chipped the plastic on it too.

I don't really get angry playing games, but I guess overall I'm just too lazy to care about the outcome of a game.

              Re: Rage Much?!?

I got angry at video gaming far too often. I keep a smashed XBOX controller in my closet. When I get pissed at a game, I go get it out and give it a good chuck down the stairs.

Got addicted to Bad Company 2 once for a couple months and after an entire weekend of play time and near exhaustion, a wookie sniper with his damned repeating, silenced, scoped, sniper rifle killed me like 5 times in a row as I chased him around ...

had enough, yanked the game out of the 360 flung it across the room, to have it hit 20 feet away on the wall and fall down to the first floor. I chased it down as fast as I could, snatched the disc as it was still intact and almost snapped it in half but thought that's too good for it. I then marched straight into my office where I fired up a monster shredder and watched and listened as the thing disintegrated into a thousand pieces.

instant relief, never looked back never played the game again,

                until BF3

oh and the most expensive? threw my tv controller on floor in fit of rage trying to beat a rival on Forza 4 and it bounced up and broke the screen on my 1 year old 50" Samsung plasma. that one cured me of my game rage.

I "punched" a hole in the wall back in 09 after I kept failing to establish the run in Madden 10.

By punched, I mean I struck the side of my fist against the wall in a hole formed around my hand. No knuckles, just muscle.

                        Re: Rage Much?!?

I usually go through two controllers a year and a couple of headsets.

Whenever I was younger, I put a nice hole in the wall with my fist.

I broke a PS1 once because I got pissed off while playing Smackdown! Just Bring It!. Unfortunately, it wasn't mine and I only had played it for about 5 minutes before breaking it.

I'd always break PS2 controllers, then after i ran out of money i'd have t buy those crap PS2 controllers, and now i stopped, just talk under my breath and such.

I'm a rager. I've broke several controllers over the years. Sometimes I rage just enough to where I throw my controller on my carpet floor and that's it, but there have been a couple times in my life where I've gotten so ****ing heated I've taken my controller outside and smashed it against my concrete driveway. lol. I've also thrown my $250 Astro headset a couple times and ended up breaking it about 6 months ago. My worst moment was when I threw a water bottle that was sitting next to my gaming monitor. Water went EVERYWHERE and ended up getting inside my monitor and ruining part of the screen.

Most of these raging moments are from playing Halo. I think I once threw a controller playing NCAA football and NBA 2k.

EDIT: Actually.. my worst moment was back in maybe 2006. I almost got to the point of crying because I couldn't get a level 40 in Team Slayer in Halo 2. lmao. It was bad. Fortunately I was eventually able to get a level 40. Haha.

I don't rage as much as I used to though. After I ruined my Astros that pretty much taught me a lesson. Raging can be expensive.

I typically yell at the screen like it is going to accomplish something, I will give, "words of encouragement" to my football team if they are playing like shiate. There have also been times that I have politely sat my controller on the ground, only to find out that one of the thumb sticks are no longer operational. However, the most embarrassing is beginning to yell at my soldier, or football player only to find out that my mic was not on mute like I thought it was.
