Killzone Mercenary uses Killzone 3 Engine

The story in Killzone Mercenary turns again to a brutal conflict between the ISA and Helghast, but it is the first opportunity to fight on the side of the Helghast. Developed by Guerrilla Games, the title itself, the use for the Killzone 3 engine. Thanks to the special features Sony PS Vita also speaks of "exciting new gameplay possibilities."

            Re: Killzone Mercenary (Vita)

A new issue of a Polish magazine has already hit the internet with some new pictures and the first details. Some of them are as follow:

            - Engine is nearly 1:1 from PS3 version
            - They added a few new gimmicks to the engine, so they can utilize more PS Vita
            - Game is gorgeous, clear and crispy textures, big draw distances
            - Character models are awesome, the same with animation
            - Stable FPS even with gigantic action inside levels
            - Literally - game is like portable Killzone 3, looking better than Uncharted.

Killzone: Mercenary Hits PS Vita September 17th

Killzone: Mercenary is a new first-person shooter in the Killzone series, developed specifically for the PlayStation Vita platform and powered by the stunning Killzone engine. Starting just after the ending of the original Killzone, and revisiting many of the events from the Killzone trilogy, the game puts players in the rugged combat boots of a mercenary named Arran Danner. Danner is a former UCA-soldier who has no qualms about taking on paid contracts from the ISA as well as the Helghast.
When a seemingly routine mission to evacuate the Vektan Ambassador and his family in Pyrrhus goes awry, Danner discovers that the outcome of the war could very well depend on the fate of the Ambassador’s young son. With both sides going to increasingly desperate lengths to get hold of the boy, he begins to wonder whether the price of victory is really worth the paycheck.

Comprised of nine single-player missions — each nearly an hour in length— Killzone: Mercenary delivers a full Killzone experience in a portable package. Completed missions unlock additional replay challenges, with a host of special objectives to accomplish. The game also boasts a full-fledged multiplayer mode with six maps tailored for eight players and three different game types, including the popular Warzone mode.

In keeping with the soldier-for-hire theme, every action in Killzone: Mercenary is rewarded. The better you perform, the higher your payout – not just in the single-player campaign, but also in the multiplayer mode. The wages you collect are deposited into a single bank account, so the money you earn in the campaign missions can also be used to buy gear and weapons for multiplayer matches, and vice versa.

Killzone: Mercenary makes full use of PlayStation Vita’s considerable input and graphics capabilities. It enhances the familiar dual-stick FPS control scheme with touch controls for actions such as brutal melee, and with tilt controls for accurate sniper aiming. The game even uses the powerful Killzone 3 engine to bring its massive environments and impressive set pieces to life. But don’t just take our word for it — watch the trailer above, and check out the new screens in this post.
                    ...

Killzone: Mercenary single-player – from PS3 to Vita

Replayability is a focus. Every single-player level has three difficulty settings (Recruit, Veteran and Elite) and four contract types, three of which (Precision, Covert and Demolition) are unlocked when you complete a Basic run-through. All require different tactics and afford different awards. Assuming it’s as good as it should be, you could be playing Mercenary for a long time.

Guerrilla’s focus, MD Herman Hulst tells me at the end of the day in his office overlooking the Herengracht canal, was to create a benchmark portable shooter, a console-style game which took total advantage of the Vita format. It’s Killzone, but it’s handheld. It’s still a way off, but there’s a good chance the Dutch studio and its Cambridge partners will deliver on the project’s intentions.
Killzone: Mercenary multiplayer – shorelines and shanking

Throughout play, Vanguards (equipment pods) are dropped onto the map, presumably from your benevolent friends in the sky. They grant power-ups, and are activated by walking up to them and pressing the screen. If you’re the first to arrive you grab a perk, which, again, is activated by touch. Goodies include Porcupine homing missiles, Sky Fury drones, and a flying thing called Manty’s Engine which kills people by pinching them to death. Plenty to keep you occupied.

Whenever anyone dies they drop a playing card, which is related to rank. The level was littered with the two of diamonds early on in the day, but by the evening we were seeing eights and nines. This is a bit like dog-tags in CoD. You get money for picking them up. In fact, you get money for everything. All the cash you collate in the game is emptied into a single account and stays with your character through Killzone: Mercenary, both in single-player and multiplayer.

The stupidity or arrogance of GG and Sony..................move it to August or October-December time frame if you want this to succeed and sell some Vita's since we know some special bundles will be out there like a Helghast Edition.
