    Killzone Trilogy HD

Killzone Trilogy joins PlayStation Collection on October 23rd

Lock and load: the newest addition to the ever-growing PlayStation Collection library will be Killzone Trilogy — hitting stores on October 23rd, 2012 for $39.99 (MSRP).

Like the Collection line-up so far, the original Killzone has been treated with the signature 720p HD makeover, along with full Trophy support.

In addition to Killzone HD, the Trilogy also includes Killzone 2. Act 2 in the series brought an even more ambitious sense of scale, storytelling and action to the franchise. Finally, the breathtaking last installment — Killzone 3 — rounds out the set. It’s an endless cinematic warfare experience in one jam-packed bundle.

Not only will the Trilogy include the three games, but it will also include all the Killzone 2 and 3 multiplayer map packs free of charge. The full map package is as follows:

    Killzone 2 Map Pack Bundle
    • Steel & Titanium Map Pack
    • Flash & Thunder Map Pack
    • Napalm & Cordite Map Pack

    Killzone 3 Map Pack Bundle
    • Killzone 3 Steel Rain Map Pack
    • Killzone 3 Retro Map Pack
    • Killzone 3 From The Ashes Map Pack

Also add that the controls from KZ2 and 3 are being added for KZ1. The lock on 30 FPS for KZ1 is great news since the original PS2 version was a framerate mess.

Brian Cox's speech is absolutely legendary in KZ2.

That looks awesome. I can't read much of it at work, right now, but does it mention anything about multiplayer capability ? That would send it over the top for me.

I wish they would do something like this with Socom 1-3.

I'd have to say since they are including the map packs that MP is certainly in.

I really liked Killzone 1 (though I found it frustrating at times). But I never understood why they gave us a scope if we couldn't even look through it...

                      Re: Killzone Trilogy HD

Announced last week, the Killzone Trilogy box set combines Killzone 2 and Killzone 3 with a high-definition PS3 remaster of the original Killzone. Today we take a closer look at Killzone HD, and the challenging new trophy set that comes with it.

Originally released for PlayStation 2 in 2004, Killzone tells the story of Jan Templar, an ISA Captain whose home planet comes under attack from a Helghast invasion army. Together with a hot-headed sergeant named Rico, a deadly Shadow Marshal known as Luger, and the half-human, half-Helghast spy Hakha, Templar must attempt to reactivate the Orbital Defense Platform and drive the invading forces from his planet Vekta.

This rip-roaring introduction to the Killzone universe has been remastered in HD for inclusion with the Killzone Trilogy bundle. Featuring a single-player campaign with four playable characters and an offline multiplayer mode against AI opponents, Killzone HD has received a thorough audiovisual overhaul: the game boasts 720p graphics at a steady 30fps, with MSAA filtering, sharper textures and higher quality sound effects. But don’t take our word for it – check out these crisp HD screenshots:

Killzone HD (Re-)Developer Interview, Part 1

                            Pretty cool interview....

When Killzone HD drops on October 24th, the original Killzone will be one week short of eight years old. In this (re-)developer interview we talk with Guerrilla Technical Director Michiel van der Leeuw and Senior Programmer Frank Compagner, who were there when Killzone was first released. In part 1, Michiel and Frank talk about the challenges they faced and the discoveries they made during the conversion process.

Never played the first KZ, so this will be a day one buy. All the DLC from 2 and 3 also. Can't go wrong. Still prefer KZ2 over KZ3 though.
