    Bringing New Life!

I've been doing a lot of thinking lately about how not many games appeal to me anymore. I have played the bigger name releases like Mass Effect, God of War, etc. but the majority of games don't appeal to me anymore.

The only games I will likely be purchasing to add to my current rotation of NCAA 13, Skate 3, and Battlefield 3 are Grand Theft Auto 5, The Last of Us, and Halo 4. There's nothing else out there that excites me

It may be my mind playing tricks on me or the fact that most kids want every new game that comes out, but I don't seem to be interested in nearly as many games anymore. It also may be the fact that I'm paying for all of my games now.

Anyways, now that I'm done rambling about my gaming woes, I thought it would be interesting to discuss some games that you guys remember playing that need a reboot or something the gaming industry is missing that would help breathe some new life. I have zero interest in the PS Move or Kinect. I'm really hoping those technologies don't sell extremely well and dictacte the future of gaming.

    I'll list a few:

Vigilante 8 - I loved playing the original almost as much as I loved Twisted Metal 2. I actually may have played it more. It was awesome seeing the new release of Twisted Metal on PS3 and it would be just as refreshing to see a Vigilante 8 reboot. The only downside ? I don't think the game would have a very good following.

Syphon Filter - I absolutely loved those games on the PS1. I was a little kid so they were tough as hell for me to play, but it didn't stop me from trying. The action shooter genre needs some new blood and a reboot of this classic would be a good place to start

Spyro/Gex/Croc - Everyone's favorite cartoon dragon, lizard, and crocodile.. right ? These arcade classics will always come to mind when I think about some of my favorite games as a kid.

Jet Moto - This one is sort of a crapshoot. I don't think it would have a realistic chance of selling many copeis, but it's worth a thought.

I also think we need some sort of new Supercross game. There were some awesome games back in the PS1 days and when I look around now, there aen't many decent options for a Supercross or ATV game.

I may seem like I'm rambling, but it's a slow day at work and I'm bored.. thought I would try to strike up a discussion.

    Ahem:

    Spoiler

I would also settle for a Kung Fu RPG ala Jade Empire.

More cop games. I'd love to do something similar to The Wire where you could recruit CIs, go after wire-taps, warrants, etc. However, you gotta have two protagonist to play as (one street and one detective) and open world obviously.

I'd welcome more platforming/puzzle games on the big two consoles. Anything to break up the power grip of FPS.

I would definitely welcome both of these ideas. Also like your samurai idea FT. The two trends I want to see diminish are the amount of cookie-cutter FPS games and the amount of zombie related games.

Some series I miss (some of which which will never be touched again more than likely):
      Bully
      Jet Force Gemini
      MechAssault
      Star Wars Battlefront

I'd kill for someone to make a good Gundam game and a console RTS as well. I could live without the latter though.

        Close the thread.

I would also welcome back Rogue Squadron and Jedi Outcast (though I guess Force Unleashed is similar in gameplay).

I like the Samurai RPG idea. I'm surprised it hasn't been done.

This may only strike home with a few people, but I always wanted a solid open world Dragon Ball Z RPG and possibly make it a mmoRPG.

I'm glad fighting games are still going strong (SSF, MK, DBZ MvC, etc.) I just wish SSF was more user-friendly. I'm not fond of using the sticks for everything and I played it almost as much as MK, when I had a Super NES.

I haven't heard much about the new South Park RPG they were developing. I hope it doesn't flop.. the idea sounds cool. I always loved the South Park racing games on PS1 and N64. I wouldn't mind seeing those re surface.

            Fire Pro Wrestling
            Earthbound

I'd also like to see more reality based games set in the real world with mature themes.

Nintendo to become a 3rd party developer. I want to be able to play Mario Brothers on my Microsoft console.

Ha, the South Park cart game on N64 was hilarious. I think I would still remember some of the short-cuts.

The Samurai game has always been a wish of mine. Take the open world of a game like Skyrim, three basic classes, good combat gameplay, and rich storylines. Seriously, who wouldn't want to recruit some other ronins and do a quest in the vein of Seven Samurai or wander into a town based on Yojimbo?

I think we need more detective-like games. L.A. Noire was a great stab at it. I had some older CSI games for my PC that weren't even that complex or innovative, but they were cool because of how much thought I had to put into them. I doubt it happens, but an Age of Empires game for console would be awesome. It's very possible, considering they brought Civilization to consoles and phones.

If you have never played or heard of this series than you are dead to me. Was the best of its kind back in the day. Then Pivotel ruined it with Denied Ops...

Yes! Every time I tie one on with my brother I go into a rant about how the Jet Moto series could use a reboot. This was one of the most fun series I have ever played.

This day and age Monster, Rockstar, etc... and the other extreme sports brands would dominate the marketing in this game and the PS3 would bring forth such great graphics.

A new coolboarders would be amazing. I pulled out the PS1 with some friends last year and we tried coolboarders 4 I think and it was still fun but the graphics look brutal now.

Love the Samuri idea as well!

Matt Hoffman's Pro BMX was one of those games my buddies and me would play for hours. After seeing what EA did with the Skate series, I'd love to see them take a crack at BMX.
