Even though I did not care for it I would recommend Deus EX IW... I am just not big on the whole Sci-Fi thing but wanted to check it out. Max Payne 2 is a weekned rental as I beat it in roughly 7 hours or so and I am no action gaming guru.

With Deus EX just dont go in expecting a full out action game in a first person mode. It has a ton or RPG elements and is more of a thinking mans FPS. Also there is a ton of dialogue you have to deal with. Not to mention the graphics in the early section are extremely mediocre. You also better work on the head shots because if you aim anywhere else you will run out of ammo quick. You also can grab anything that is "not too heavy" in the game and toss it around which is amusing for awhile. I dont want to sound like I am ripping on the game, it was just not what I was looking for. If you want a more complex, thinking mans FPS then it should give you of plenty gaming hours. Just dont play it on easy.

Oh and you do get to shoots some hoop early on in the game.

Pass on both of them. Rent MP2 if possible. Get Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.

Sorry, but I disagree. Longevity has nothing to do with the quality of a game, and Max Payne 2 is all about the quality. I beat the game, and I loved every single minute of it. Few games can offer the kind of satisfaction Max Payne 2 gave me from beating it.

I'd say Deus Ex because it's supposedly set up like 15 years in the future and it's a pretty 'new' game, whereas MP2 was more of a mod or a continuation. If you played the first MP then it'll be business as usual with the 2nd version.

Which is a GOOD thing. Look at Deus Ex 2 for an example of where things change can hinder a person's enjoyment of the game. Max Payne 2 is much slicker than the original, and it's just better all around. It may be somewhat short, but every minute of the game is fun, at least for me. It is a lot like watching a movie. It's obvious the devs put a lot of effort into making the game, and even though the game is somewhat short, almost everything about it is done well. Few games can even make that claim.

If that's not worth $50, I don't know what is. In any case, I'm pretty sure you could find the game for around $20-30.

By the way, I'm not saying Deus Ex 2 isn't good. The gameplay could be great, but the changes they've made (in comparison to the original PC game) are not for the better, and make this game too much like a console game rather than a PC game. I loved the original, so I'm very disappointed in that.

You can't go wrong with Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic either. I'd wait for Deus Ex 2 (sadly) to drop in price before picking it up. But Max Payne 2 and Star Wars:KOTR are both excellent games, and IMHO, worth a purchase.

Max Payne 2 feels like a great mod for the original. The technology is the same with the exception of the havok(?) engine. It offers a great experience, yea.. for 7 hours, and then you probably won't play it again. It's a great game, but no way is it worth $50. If you can rent it and beat it, and enjoy it.. do so. Don't buy it.
