    Xbox doesnt do something similar?

no they charge you $99 regardless of the issue, probably because they needed to come up with a money maker for xbox somehow.

            Re: Troubles with my xbox

Not to sound like a nattering ninny, but it's instances like this that reassure me that I did the right thing to buy the two-year extended warranty at EB for my Xbox for $30.

My first Xbox died within seven weeks. I had no extended warranty, but luckily I bought it at Wal-Mart, which has a 90-day return policy.

So I returned that busted Box and headed straight to EB to buy a new one, with the extended warranty. Now if my Xbox even sounds funny, I can return it to EB for a new one on the spot, free.

I normally hate extended warranties and think they're a rip-off. But I use my Xbox quite a bit, and you know all consoles are built fairly cheaply to reduce costs. Think about it: MS is selling the Xbox -- essentially a small PC -- for $179. I know MS is losing money on each Xbox sold, but it must cut corners somewhere to try and save money.

The extended warranty is $30 for peace of mind and no hassles. Money well spent.

            Take care,
            PK
