Wow! Squadron 42 Star Citizen, from the creator of Wing Commander

The debut trailer for Squadron 42 Star Citizen - made by the creator of Wing Commander. In game assets used in the video. CryEngine 3 is the game engine.

It is a full fledged physics based space simulator, that will have support for head tracking, Advanced peripheral support- supporting the more exotic enthusiast peripherals; HOTAS, flight chair, rudder pedals. It will also support the upcoming Oculus Rift Virtual Reality headset.

If you are a fan of pc gaming and the venerable Wing Commander series you will likley have to pick your jaw up off the floor by the time you finish these two videos:

While the game looks impressive graphical, many of the other features are nothing revolutionary. Modern racing and PC flight sims have been doing plenty of the features for years now.

Anyone remember Descent?? My personal favorite PC space flight game.

I might have to break down and get an OR dev kit. I am waiting on what Sony does with the tech though.

Still waiting on Freespace 3. Interplay bought the rights back from THQ when they went belly up for a cool $7500. Hell, I should've taken out a loan.

Always loved Wing Commander...till I played Freespace 2. Between it and the first game, Descent: Freespace - The Great War, that was the pinnacle of the space sim genre.

This does raise my interest a bit.
