What game should I buy?

College student in graduate school. Never ask for much from parents because they don't have any money but my Mom insists to buy me a video game for Christmas.

I'm not much of a video game player besides sports titles and occasionally some Need for Speed or GTA. Fantasy games don't amuse me anymore since I'm older so I don't want Halo 4. I have no idea what video game I want or whats releasing.

I mainly play Madden 13 since the only sports I like are football and MMA but UFC makes horrible video games. Is there a sports title with a decent dynasty mode that doesn't get boring/isn't repetitive? I've heard a lot about NBA 2K13 but I know nothing about basketball. Same with hockey. Is a new GTA game coming out soon?

TL;DR suggest me a game since I don't keep up with releases anymore.

NBA's franchise is good. I wouldn't say great...but it's interesting.
MLB The Show's is on par with it...and '13(March release...so it's a wait...but if you try '12 and want a jump...it's a good start) and in some ways better IMO...but I'm a Show freak.
Football Manager(soccer) is fantastic as far as a GM/Manager mode. I never knew much about soccer...but I get into it.....much like I did with College Hoops(which is a great GM mode as well!)

Not sports?.....try the X-COM demo....totally addicting game.

I think I'd prefer basketball over baseball. I haven't played a basketball game since like NCAA March Madness 04 or something. I did play College Hoops 2K8 or whatever it's called and the dynasty mode was sort of the same thing each year.

How are baseball games now? I'm not a soccer fan at all.

Do 2K sports have draft classes between the college and nba? Do they even have drafts?

You can download created draft classes (the real good ones are accurate) and implement them when you play association mode.

gta v is coming out next spring, possibly may.you could pre order it. nba2k is pretty good, i dont know if 2k13 has some stupid trade glitch again, i havent noticed it in 2k12 so if trading is realistic in 2k12 but not in 2k13, i would get 2k12.if trading is still fine i think the game is worth dealing with a ton of glitches until some patches come out.maybe wwe 13, but you're a mma fan so i geuss not.

How much is 2K12? I might buy that myself.

And lol. WWE. They've had the same storylines since America was declared its own country. Haven't watched that stuff since the 90's.

If you like Need for Speed and an open world game like GTA, you would probably enjoy Sleeping Dogs. Terrible name for a game but a great title.

You sir want Sleeping Dogs.

GTA style open world. (You're a cop but you can still mess everyone up and cause chaos.)
Martial arts based combat with less guns. (Even has a GSP DLC pack.)
Street racing events.
Solid story.
Took me about 40 hours to complete everything.
Zombie DLC quest.
Incoming DLC quest that adds a new island and based on the name is centered on a fighting tournament.

mlb the show and nba2k are the best sports titles without a doubt. i've heard great things about sleeping dogs, something about you shooting someone (outside of a mission)paramedics come, try and save him but fail and pronounce him dead. that sounds great.but if you get bored of gta style games, i think skyrim and sports title will give you the most fun.

Im not a hockey fan at all but bought nhl13 this year for some reason and it had the same effect as crack.

OP, if you dont know much about hockey or haven't played any hockey games for years, like eF 5ive has put it, I think you should find NHL 13 a fun, engrossing game. It has fast action, lots of game modes offline and online and can be picked up by a new comer and enjoyed on the easier settings until you find your way.

Maybe its just me but I always think video game hockey is the best virtual sports experience amongst all of the sports on offer especially for new comers!
