I think the campaign is better in Black Ops II but to me Battlefield blows the other out of the water online. Just my opinion but I still do not understand the attraction for Black Ops online over BF3.

How old is your brother? Would he prefer more strategy and a slower pace or would he want something that is run and gun and constant action?

If he's like my brother and just wants to run around shooting things get him Black Ops 2. If he wants to take his time and have a more strategic and teamwork approach get him BF3.

Re: Battlefield 3 or Black Ops II

300 hours tied up into Battlefield 3. I have to say, It's one of the best multiplayer/military and shooter games I have played.

There's something for everyone. There's the Armored Kill maps for those who love the huge and wide open maps to play on. There's the Close Quarters maps that are great for constant action and objective. Then there are the original and Back to Karkand maps that are a mix of both.

There's also more DLC coming with the premium. The Campaign is fun, but it's not mind-blowing really. There's a healthy mix of vehicle and infantry warfare and you face some different obstacles along the way.

I'm taking a break from it and playing Black Ops II now. It's a fun game, but nothing gronudbreaking. You get alot of what you usually get with a Call of Duty title, but they did change some things that make it more enjoyable. The Campaign is better than Battlefield 3 and the multiplayer is very addictive.

Does your brother have anyone to play Battlefield 3 with. It's a great game, but it only excels when you're playing it with a few friends. When the game first came out and through the better part of a year, we had 20+ OSers available to play and some nights we couldn't even get everyone in on one team. Those clan matches and just random matches were some of the most fun I have ever had with a shooter, online. It's amazing how well I know some of the guys on here, just because the time we spent on the "Battlefield".

If he's going to be playing by himself, he may have a better time with Call of Duty..

Also, FWIW.. Black Ops II may be the best of any Call of Duty, including the Infinity Ward games, since COD4.

Hell I might finally get BF3 Premium for the PC today as it's 50 percent off on every platform on Origin right now.

Both games are legit. Id get him whatever his friends play more. The statement bf3 requires more strategy is false. Just like a cod game, i can jump on bf3 and play rush with no mic and hold my own. It isnt any slower than cod, you can still get smg class and run/gun.

Its just his preference. I play both cod and bf3 and enjoy whichever my friends are on. I'd just find out what he likes the most though and get it.

I couldn't disagree more eF. I've had limited success, playing without anyone.

It's tough sledding, trying to use a tank and move on the Battlefield, without an effecient engineer.

Same goes for piloting a Havoc or Viper, without having a gunner to help with the ground troops with stingers.

There are just some aspects of the game that only go smoothly if you're playing against an incompetent team or have decent team mates.

                      I'm with you Chase.

It can be so frustrating playing with just randoms...Especially if the other team is playing as a unit.

My little brother has BOPs. So I've been watching him play plenty, and there is just no unity at all from what I can tell. Everybody just runs off and does his own thing.

The thing about Battlefield is it ENCOURAGES you to play as a team. With the way the class system is set up, you really do kind of lean on each other during matches.

I think the biggest reason it always feels so "one man army" -like, even in the objective games, is because you randomly spawn in different places, away from your team or anyone you're in a party with.

It's damn near impossible to stick with people you know, sometimes..

If his friends have Battlefield 3 though, and play a lot, then it's all fine.

You don't want him being left out amongst his friends who may possibly be more committed to COD. COD does offer modes involving teamwork, so either choice is fine.

For me, I think you should get Black Ops 2 so he can play with his friends despite Battlefield potentially being a better game overall.

I own Battlefield 3 and most of my friends are saying "You have to get Black Ops 2! We gotta play online together" Some of those friends used to play Battlefield 3 with me, but have moved on to the newest game.

BF3 is by far much better in my opinion. BUT! BO2 is really fun. Which is a change for me since I really havn't liked them since WaW.

If you have alot of friends who are playing BO2 and not BF3 then I recommend BO2. BF3 is really great but by yourself it isn't the same in my experiences. If you play spit screen alot or plan on taking turns with someone alot I also recommend BO2 just because its faster pace and you can play spit screen on or offline. And BO2 like I already have said is just fun this year, plain and simple. I don't nearly get as frustrated from the game has I have since MW2.

But if you are looking for a all out war, every aspect a fps should have then BF3 is the way for you. Especially if you have friends playing this as well. This game shines when you are playing as a team with your friends. BF3 has much better graphics, gun gameplay, and is more on the realistic side.

I recommend BF3 to anybody before BO2, but it all comes down to what you like. Fast paced action where one person can lead a tam to victory? Or bigger battles, team play wins games, and slower of a pace? Are you going to play by yourself alot, or with your friends?

Also BO2 still has killstreaks, but now it is called "pointstreaks", to get your streaks sooner you actually have to play the objective. In the past people (including myself) would play Domination or demolition to get the kills well now they reward objective playing which I think was a very smart idea.

Which ever you pick you will have fun, they are both good games, and are stronger in some areas and weaker in others. Good luck in decision.
