Is there some magical way to get an exotic weapon drop? I've played this game a ton and have had no luck.

The best info I can give is just do the bounties like a madman...I don't think there's any set of bounties to turn in at a certain time,it's all about the RNG.

I am currently working on 2 exotic bounties,and have abandoned 2 more as I don't want either weapon that was offered.

I am currently putting off doing the bounty for the bad ju ju,for 2 reasons..

1-waiting to see if the buff to the gun will be worth it.
2- I absolutely cannot stand the PVP

But I would say you're more or less at the mercy of the RNG...good luck dude..I'm sure your day will come.

Besides the random exotic bounty, best chances come at the end of the level 28 weekly heroic nightfall. Each of my exotics have come from that.
Besides that the only guaranteed way is to buy them from Xur.

My one exotic weapon came in purple drop after doing a strike. Haven't seen one since. My exotic helm I got from Xur buying the exotic engram and rolling the dice. Got lucky and it was for my class.

Other than that I've only gotten two legendary weapons from drops. Mostly blues...which are needed for weapons parts as I'm trying to put together an arsenal of weapons for every damage type.

I dont know what happened but me, my bro (RGMoney) and a friend have been running together since almost day one. Up until a couple of weeks ago (pre patch) Our friend would be good for getting purple engrams and blue engrams to drop while we were just running high Tiger Strikes.. my bro RG money would get blues mostly and I would get damn greens. So we make our call signes Grover (purple), Cookie Monster (blues) and I was Kermit cuz all I got were crappy greens. Then about two weeks ago, in the span of about a week and a half I had that exotic uber Titan Helm drop from a purple. I look like a member of Daft Punk, then I got the Suros Regime Auto Rife (its beast, there is no better auto rifle fully specced), Then came a bunch of weapon bounties in the span of about 10 days. Wound up wtih Super Good Advice (exotic machine gun), Patience and Time (exotic Sniper rifle that takes you off of radar when you're zoomed in and allows you to still use your radar), Invective (exotic shot gun), and I have two more weapon bounties now. One for a fusion rifle and one for the hand cannon... so since I have a ton of yellow stuff my callsign went from Kermit to Big Bird lol

Someone one up in Destiny Heaven must like me lol. Granted I will say post patch I've had maybe two purple engrams drop. Thats it. And when I used to get a lot of purple engrams from leveling my cryptarc im lucky to get one purple every 3 times hes leveled.. its mostly just blues now.

Still havent raided yet but want to. I want to take my exotic power into a raid and see what I can do.... in addition to dying 300 times.

Yes it's only a rare, however this gun specced out with rapid recharge and the stability upgrade is absolute domination in control. It holds 6 rounds. The handling is the best of any gun I've used. You can walk into a control point and drop 3-4 dudes with ease and then take the point. I don't even fear shotguns anymore. I had the Legendary "77 Wizard" but thought it sucked.

This thing is equally deadly in PVE especially because it does Void damage. Love this gun.

I have to admit, I'm surprised I'm so stuck on this game. Originally this was supposed to be a time killer for FIFA 15 but as of now, I haven't played more than 3 hours total of FIFA because all my game time goes to this.

Me too! I thought that once Shadows of Mordor dropped, Destiny would be shelved for a bit. Played about 30 mins of Mordor, can't stop playing Destiny. I think once I get a few legendary or exotic weapons the thrill of the hunt will wane a bit. Just sticking to Vangard Strikes and patrols and having fun. Up for a strike or Raid with fellow OSers, add me PSN cubfan023

Sadly, nope, there's always something better. I think eventually you can get there, once you have full raid and a good group of exotics/legendaries for weapons. That will take a while though, considering you can only raid once a week and in three I have yet to get any raid gear (did get raid sniper, shotgun, and machine gun though, sniper and MG are both quite nice).

Yes, and it has stats more like an exotic, it's how people get to 30, seems like 29 is cap without raid gear.

It's like a normal purple legendary. They normally have higher max defense and have higher light level. they start out equal to other legendaries I think.
max light is +30, similar to exotics.
other legendaries I think max out at +27 light.

not sure about the blue vs tan sets. I got the "tan" chest and gauntlet pieces on the normal raid.
