Did the Nightfall and got 12 ascendant shards as a reward. Sigh...my run of never getting an exotic continues.

I hate the summoning pits. I hate the hive. I hate the wizards and Knights. No way I was going to try this weeks nightfall. Not after the exotic thorn bounty. To make matters worse, I had no effective weapon that did arc damage.

But of course, Bungie didn't let me escape that easily. Needed to turn in one bounty to up my vanguard rank. I was rewarded with the only vanguard weapon that did arc damage. And it's a sniper rifle, literally the perfect combination. Damn you Bungie, I swore I'd never go back to that place. Wish me luck guys.

Weekly heroic is much easier than the nightfall. I also have no arc weapons, I just haven't had any drop. I should be able to grind some vanguard marks and buy a sniper though, maybe that will get me through nightfall.

Soloed the nightfall with my Warlock. The Swarm with arc just melts everything and I had an Epitaph with arc. Also, being able to self-revive trivializes most of content in the game. Got the New Monarch shotgun.

I hate the Wizards but really with the Icebreaker they are pretty easy to deal with.

You got a gun for upping your vanguard rank? To what? I want one! Haha

So the higher your level the more damage your weapons do too? I thought it was just based on the attack of the weapon

When you reach Vanguard rank 3 I think they give you a legendary weapon.

Yeah you get a special package from the postman every time you gain a vanguard rank (starting at level 3). I got a legendary warlock bond, legendary vanguard sniper, mote of light and a strange coin.

Much better than the Cryptarch packages....

Also, as your light level increases, your weapons due more damage and you can take more damage. Calculations are based on the enemies level. Some crazy algorithm but yes, higher level means higher damage.

Awesome! Thank you for the help, I did not know this, I thought it was based on the stats of the weapons/armor primarily.

Great to know and more to look forward to. Hopefully tonight I break 26. Been stuck at 25 for what seems like forever

They give you various things, I'm rank 5 and for 3,4, & 5 I've gotten weapons and shards.
