    Re: Destiny

Diablo's RMAH was a fairly unique snafu that I don't see any game duplicating.

I thought it was just Bungie and Activision on this game. Had know idea Blizzard was too. If anything that would make the RPG element of the game better having them on it if they are helping on it.

I wonder are they gonna make factions available in the Beta or wait till the game drops.

          Re: Destiny

Heres an article I remember reading about destiny a bit ago:

Activision Blizzard investing $500 million in Bungie's 'Destiny'

Spiritual successor to Halo most expensive game produced yet

Reuters reports that Activision Blizzard will drop a total of $500 million on the development of Bungie's upcoming game Destiny. The investment makes the game the most expensive video game production to date, surpassing previous cost leaders such as Grand Theft Auto V and Star Wars: Knights of The Old Republic. Activision CEO Bobby Kotick announced the record-setting investment at the Milken Institute conference in Los Angeles at the end of April.

A spokesperson for Activision confirmed the number with Reuters, stating that the cost tally "was accurate but also includes marketing, packaging, infrastructure support, royalties and other costs." The risk for the possible reward is a gamble for Activision, considering Destiny has an unproven track record as a new intellectual property.

"If you're making a $500 million bet, you can't take that chance with someone else's IP," says Kotick. "The stakes for us are getting bigger." The stakes are getting so much bigger, in fact, that an estimated sale of 16 million copies would be required for the game to break even with an investment this size.

Activision has already taken one gamble with Bungie, when it signed a 10-year publishing deal with the studio in 2010. The deal would allow Bungie to keep any IP developed by the studio under the duration of the deal. In return,Activision would receive worldwide distribution for any game, as well as control over franchise development.

Bungie, however, is a studio with deep history from the Marathon games in the mid-90s and the globally-celebrated Halo franchise. Investing in a company that has created one of the largest franchises in console history may seem like a wise business decision if Destiny garners the attention the publisher thinks it will.

Destiny is the first game Bungie has worked on since 2010, when the company released its final offering to the Halo franchise with Halo: Reach. Destiny is scheduled for a September 9 release.

But in all reality a AH isnt needed yet in the game (From what was shown). Theres really no reason for it unless theres going to be more items/crafting stuff that glimmer would be needed for. I know its early and I am sure thees much more content, I just cant wait to see that content.

Absolutely no Real Money AH and absolutely no pay to win dlc. If so this game is doomed from the get go.

Dont get me wrong, I am super excited for this game so far but the Direction of Blizzard hasn't been great recently (RoS expansion excluded however that shouldnt of been needed in the first place if they didnt completely destroy Diablo originally) and I dont want them getting their claws into ideas for the game.

It's just Bungie and Activision. "Activision Blizzard" is the parent company of Activision and Blizzard Entertainment. The companies merged in 2008 when Activision and Vivendi (then the parent company of Blizzard Entertainment) merged. Blizzard Entertainment and Activision retain autonomy even with the merger; they are separate companies with their own projects just with one parent.

Blizzard has nothing to do with this game.

Playing this alpha makes me wish the full game was out earlier. I kept wanting to go back and explore areas. Even the multiplayer had my interest and had a good time with. The developers did a great job putting this together.

Just got done playing a little bit this morning, and I'm not sure if Bungie did something different, but during my free roam session a random event popped up,and it turned out to be the spider tank from Devil's Lair

There were also other enemies in the area,as well as those flying shanks?...but this time they had more armor on them so it was alot harder taking them down.
Needless to say,I didn't last long at all especially since it was just me...lol

Yeah that'll happen a lot apparently. You can be in a quest (I was doing the fire strike mission) and a random public event popped up. It was close to the beginning of the Devil's Lair so my buddy and I deviated away from the mission to help whoever was in the public event.

I hope Bungie keeps it that way because being able to leave a mission for a bit to participate in a public event and then go back to the mission is an awesome idea.

I think what threw me off was it was a spider tank,in comparison to some of the other random events (protect this or that) which weren't that difficult.
