                            Personally never participated in a beta, or read of one, that lets users keep their characters before launch. There's usually a patch or two before then and the databases are wiped.

                                Not characters so not entirely the same but Hearthstone let people keep the cards they purchased in the open beta into the launch of the game, wiped after alpha and not sure if it wiped when beta switched from closed to open but from open beta to launch anyone who purchased anything carried it over.

                                        They had wipes. The real money you spent was just rolled back to gold.

                                            I honestly can't imagine them not rolling chars back after beta. After all, it is still a beta and not just an early access thing.

                                                    Not necessarily in terms of how the game feels. The borderlands comparison is just a lazy genre definition comparison.

                                                            It's many parts of Borderlands, Defiance, and Warframe mixed and you can feel the heavy Halo influence when playing it as well.

                                                            It is going to be an amazing game if the Alpha was any indication.
