Ran crota normal, got shards/energy and am now a 32. Still no Black Hammer.

Ran VOG hard mode and got my third Fatebringer. I joked that since I told my group I'd just do nightfalls and raids I'd get the Vex when we defeated Atheon. Got Red Death, which apparently it's good during Crota hard mode.

Once I think I'm out, they pull me back in.

I guess I'll do a recap (as best as I can recall) of exotic weapon drops for me:

First month playing got a a Gjallarhorn from a VoG normal chest. Didn't know what it was, teammates told me it's good. Really good. This was my first exotic.
Then got the Invective from an exotic bounty, dismantled it because I hate shotguns. This was before exotic shards.
Got SGA, Bad JuJu, Pocket Infinity and Thorn as well. Dismantled SGA, not a fan at all.
Bought SUROS Regime from Xur, got another from Sepik's Prime Nightfall.
Got a Vex Mythoclast on my second hard run. Proceeded to get it 3 more times, dismantling them all (sorry).
Got a Thunderlord from the Iron Banner 2.0
Got an Icebreaker from VoG normal Atheon (lv. 300)
Got TLW from the exotic VoG chest (lv. 300)
Got Plan C from a nightfall last month.
Got Universal Remote from a Nightfall two weeks ago against Va'alus (I think that was two weeks ago).
Got a Mida Multi Tool from a ROC strike last week.
Got Truth from the Nightfall this week. Then I got it again from Ir Yut.
Got Patience and Time from Crota raid this week.
Got Hawkmoon two days ago from Crota

As it stands, I am just missing Monte Carlo, Red Death, Hard Light

Went through the first 2 sections of Crota on hard. Feel like my luck may be turning with drops. Got both weapons, while my buddy who's doing it for the second time got only energies. Last 3 weeks that would've been me.

Dangit rob don't be talking about my hard mode bad luck.. I get the hawkmoon in a nightfall and then my raid luck goes to crap lol. I got shards shards shards and then I beat crota and somehow didn't get a reward. The most frustrating week of raiding ever considering my hard mode VoG reward was a ship, shader, 3 energies, and 3 shards which those are useless as of now.

Gjallarhorn was my second exotic, after doing the super good advice bounty, I believe it came from an engram(!).

I'm not sure where most of my exotics came from, but Monte Carlo and hawkmoon are the only two I've yet to have (save for bounty exotics, of which I have done pocket infinity and SGA).

Only weapons I am still looking to get dropped are hunger of Crota, the Crota auto rifle, and the crux for the necro.

Still need Suros, Monte Carlo, Hard Light, Mida, and Universal Remote. Don't really care about any of them but Suros.

Gjallarhorn is obviously the best exotic for basically every situation, but Hawkmoon is unquestionably my favorite weapon in the game. It has a cool factor that nothing else has, and it hits like a truck.

I gave Hawkmoon another try today (I have it's perks leveled) but I still prefer TLW in PvP. There is something about the RoF that gets people down quicker (at least for the way I play).

The Last Word is far better in PvP for sure. I was talking pure PvE for the Hawkmoon. Although if we're talking hand cannons in the Crucible, Thorn is pretty killer too.

Got a Crota CP on hard. I've still yet to down him. Didn't get anything on the run up to him unfortunately other than shards and energy.

Use all void weapons. I used AE as my primary, a void fusion as my special, and corrective measure as my heavy. Add in I was a Voidwalker, so I got extra void kills there. It took me three or four days.

Thanks for all the responses. I surveyed my inventory and I only have 2 heavy machine guns with void damage! I will wait till I get a good secondary and primary. Looks like VOG on hard before I complete the thorn bounty.

I just like the hawk in Pvp Cuz I can basically rock someone across the map lol it's pretty fun and probably pisses Ppl off getting Merked by a hand cannon in sniper range

Above all, a void primary is the most important because that is where you get most of your kills.

You can get Atheon Epilogue on normal too, FYI.

I had the opposite approach. I only used the Epilogue if I completely ran out of secondary ammo. Probably 90% of my kills for that bounty were with a void 77 Wizard. The rest were split between a void heavy and a few Epilogue kills here and there.

Thanks 4 all of the tips guys! I originally saw this as a daunting task, but it seems doable. I am in desperate need of a good hand cannon. I hope thorn delivers

Thorn wrecks in PvP. I can't stand when people use it.

There are a couple guns I refuse to use in PvP and Thorn is one. That's just me
