I could be wrong, but I think the iron part is just an ornament and we still have to go through the quest to get the weapon.

This. The iron part is just a skin/ornament. There is a gally quest needed to get the y3 version of the weapon.

Three years of playing this game, not sure how man thousands of engrams decrypted. But I got my first exotic from a blue engram today. The Nemesis Star! Literally did a double take, never had that kind of luck before.

It is. I finished the Gjallahorn quest - believe it or not this is the first Gjally I've ever had (and I've been playing since the alpha) - and the pre-order is a 3 LL version that requires infusion. Kind of lame you have to waste some resources just to change the skin, but all-in-all not a huge deal. The difference between the two is very minor as it is.

I'm embarrassed at how long it took me to get that SIVA cluster at the top of Felwinter's Peak. Using a Titan probably didn't help, but it was one of the most frustrating things ever.

Rise of Iron is decent so far. I've done all of the story, the Khvostov quest, and the Gjallarhorn quest.

I'm kind of disappointed in the length of the story, but the concept was cool. I can't wait to try the strike, the raid, and the new court of archon priests or whatever

I'm enjoying Rise of Iron. Like Dog said, the story was short and very underdeveloped. Felt very rushed and things weren't explained well. I understand it's a DLC but I finished the main story in just under an hour.

Seeing how they did The Taken King and Rise of Iron, imagine if the vanilla Destiny had an actual story with actual cut scenes like the past two DLC's had. Could you imagine that? The first cut scene of the main story had me floored. Visuals were awesome. I'm looking forward to Destiny 2. Bungie has always been great at telling a story and making you care about the characters and environments they create.

After the main story I did the new strike and the reworked Devil's Lair strike. Got the skeleton key and ran it again and got the Devil's Dawn sniper rifle. Looks real sick but I want the shotgun that's in the RoI Year 3 book. I forget what it's called but it has wolves fur on it. Looks real neat.

I'll play more tomorrow and hop into Crucible and give that a go.

That gjallarhorn final quest drove me crazy trying to solo it. Then I realized the trick and it was pretty simple (and underwhelming).

It's been an ok dlc this far. Prolly should've cost 20 bucks.

I'm surprised a lot of you aren't enjoying it, you probably also didn't pay attention to where they said this wouldn't be as big as TTK.

IMO the story is developed well and Gally and Khostov quests were a lot of fun and reminiscent of old times.

With it being the live team developing I knew this would be a small dlc, but nonetheless I'm enjoying it...if only for all the CLOAKS. Now it's just waiting till Friday for the raid with my group and doing some strikes and stuff

Have they made it easier to team up with ransoms to do raids and such? I like the game but stopped playing it since none of my friends had the game and it was a pain to join up with ransoms.

Thinking about jumping back in but I'm worried I'll be way behind since I'm starting over and I'm also worried I'll get whooped in MP since I'll be so underpowered.

Is there a better way to get to 350 other than buying gear? I noticed all the blue engrams cap at 340, and all the other gear I'm getting at random hasn't hit 350. Unfortunately all the "good" activities have a soft requirement of 350 light and I can't find a way to hit that without just buying everything, and with four pieces of gear still left to buy (two weapons and two armor pieces), that's another 390 legendary marks.

I guess this is how they've set up one of the time gates this go around. I was hoping to raid on Friday but there's no way I'm hitting 350 much less 365 by then.

Unfortunately no, all the highest-level activities outside of heroic strikes still have no matchmaking. That said if you're really worried, I've found the100.io to be tremendously useful in finding a group to do things with. You can also schedule activities if that makes it easier for you.

There are other LFG sites you can try, including reddit, but unless you are matching by play style (as the100 does), you can end up getting into groups with some unsavory individuals.
