So I just got myself a new laptop and am downloading this game now. Any tips for a total noob or am I doomed to die 50 times before I get my bearings?

Trust nobody and head inland. Settlements inland generally have more loot as most players tend to spawn/loiter around the coast.

So... has anyone encountered and succeeded in fixing the "BattlEye Client not responding" issue? I haven't played for more than 30 straight seconds at a time yet because of it.

Found a guide to fix it on the Steam forums, did exactly what it did step by step, and it didn't work.

I tried verifing the file cache... didnt work.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the full game....didnt work.

From some of the posts I've seen, seems like some people have been having this problem for a long time - it's starting to feel like I just wasted 35 bucks.

I have never had this issue, but just based on the message it sounds like it could be a firewall problem.

Well I was able to figure it out, it was because of firewall allowances. Two minutes into playing I broke my leg trying to traverse some small rocks and am currently waiting to die. Lol.

Yea figured it had to be firewall related based on the message, glad to hear you got it working. Fantastic game! Plan to team up with some of us.

Welp. I played a good hour or two earlier and just got on again and the issue is back. Yikes, that's irritating.

Try to download and install from www.battleye.com. I had that problem with Arma 3 before and it was because my battleye client was corrupted.

                    Re: Day Z

A lot of people dislike .55, but I am loving it. Having to find new sources of food is going to really freshen the game up. With persistent storage being across the board now, I think it's finally time to set up camp and get to hunting. Finding loot is a lot more difficult, but I love it that way.

I've been playing a new character and have been just eating berries and apples while exploring. I'm not finding much so far, but eventually I have to find some nice items and a weapon. If I can just get a bow at the very least I'm going to work on hunting and getting a nice load of meat since food is much harder to come by.

Right now I am logged out in some woods with my truck parked in some bushes and trees to stay hidden from anyone that would come around there for some odd reason.

I'm excited to play more with how the game is now and I'm very excited for the future.

sounds so awesome, I hope when it comes to ps4 it benefits from these updates, but also stays almost exactly the same.

                      It looks/sounds so cool.

Anybody still playing this? Finally got past the whole BattleEye issue and played a few hours last night. It was fun, but would have been more so if I had somebody to rendezvous with.

I'm trying to hold off on playing this again until the new renderer comes out. So far Bohemia said late summer, so we'll see.

If they keep delaying that, I might get back on during the stable release. After putting over 200 hours into it the past few months I def needed the break.

So what are the major differences between this and breaking point?
