I watched some streams on PS4 and thought to give it a shot. All and all, wish I wouldn’t have made the purchase. Tried playing last night, extremely buggy and laggy most of the time I played. Fair to say, spent a bit over an hour or so and safe to safe I’m done with it. Definitely not worth the current price at all.

Curious also. Thought about picking this up, like a survival game. PvP. Wondering how it is after updates and patches. I played dayz long time ago in my pc playing days.

Im loving this game. With all the updates its had. Real survival game. Teamed up with bud of mine. I had to run all day in game to find him. We used name of towns we were at along coast to take railroad tracks to each other. My trip was costly as I went into shock right before he arrived. Had to exit server. Tonight will meet up again as he stayed in area. Will find out if still in shock when i return to server?

Well I died after new update i guess. We both started fresh in new server. Friend made trek to where I was and we met up in a small town. Awesome to actually meet up in game as you have to use multiple survivor techniques to find your way while talking in party chat. Meeting up in game in dayz has to be one of the most rewarding things to happen in a game. [emoji16][emoji23] only going by landmarks and signs in russian. Makes it challenging. [emoji106]

Digging 1.05. Vaulting a game changer. Beware though as supposedly zombies have been seen vaulting as well??? The disease and sickness seems more balanced. But be careful, do not take lightly. Love the variety of zombies now. Was in town at night before met up with friend, and got attacked by a group of school uniform zombies freaked me out. Do what you got to do. Stoked got to my first military base before sundown last night. Small one, but my first SMG and some other military gear. Want to find good place to build a base. Know it will take a while. [emoji54]

Well. This game will smack you in the face. Tried twice to make back to potential base camp. Died on trek back twice. [emoji35] once from sickness I could no cure, even though i took meds. Second time, long trek to almost make it only to die from hunger. Could not find anything to eat. Literally died 5 min from base. [emoji54]

                        Re: Day Z

very mixed feelings about this game. At first I was enjoying it and it does have addictive qualities to it but there is a laundry list of things they got wrong or don't work. Also on a 'meta' level, you can't 'beat the game' and it's just about surviving as long as possible which means it's hard to keep motivated for me at least.

I played on the free weekend by the way.

More obvious; with a game like PUBG, going from there to here is a swift kick in the pants in a bad way. Animation is worse, frame-rate, textures, draw--n/pop-in, ...it just seems like PUBG does everything better, albiet it has less options like fixing a tire and farming etc, but even still DayZ is pretty underwhelming on a technical level.

The controls are whack - I understand you have to put things in your hand to use them, but there should be more simple ways of doing this - again it's hard not to compare to DayZ - I was lucky enough to find a dead body with full gear, like 2 shotguns, handgun and a sniper rifle, loads of bullets and health supplies. The sniper reloading (and handgun) is just an exercise in frustration. You have to separate the mag and put it in your inventory, then unequip the gun, then put the mag back in your hand, then hover over the right bullets and 'combine' - then put the mag back in your inventory, re-equip the gun, then go back to equipment, hover over the mag and combine. Pretty stupid if you as me, especially with a lot of gear it's just painfully slow and cumbersome and not even 'realistic' - there should be some type of 'standby' state when youre doing something obvious like that.

kind of hard to admit but it's just too hardcore for me. Like when night starts, it stays that way forever and if you don't have a lot of loot - maybe you should be allowed to sleep? I spent a few lives dying wandering around in the dark which is fine, but why not let me hole-up in a house for a night? Also the hydration and food system is so much WORSE than real life, you have to eat constantly and drink seems to be more forgiving, but why do you have to eat so much? Also you die of starvation pretty quickly - so the game is all about finding food and water which makes sense, but it often interrupts the pursuit of more complex gear and strategies because you have to eat so often.

I'm happy I got to play it for free, but I doubt I go back unless maybe you can tweak some stuff for your play-style. The human interaction is cool as well and that's what makes it unique, but the scarcity of items/food makes it a bit too unenjoyable for me, too much like a chore.

                          Re: Day Z

Modded servers can have you geared up pretty quick, no stamina and food everywhere if that's your thing. DZSA launcher has all of the servers with every combination of settings.

I like both but Vanilla is what really gets the heart racing and the palms sweaty. It's the interaction and true fear of being randomly murdered by the guy you just spent 2 hours with or the sniper neither of you saw.

Controls are janky af but DAYZ is a love it or hate it and the people who love it suffer on.

I disagree with Vanilla DayZ being the true experience that "gets your palms sweaty" unless you haven't played on heavily modded private servers. Don't get me wrong Vanilla is it's still (somewhat) decent but doesn't hold up to modded servers.
