Basic gameplay involves sidescrolling action with a little platforming (jumping) here and there, and a lot of puzzle solving. And of course, you wouldn't be the Doctor without your trusted screwdriver which is used to open locks and doors as expected. The screwdriver is such a trivial yet pivotal device for the Doctor. Personally found the implementation of the screwdriver handled exceptionally well in the game. In addition to opening locks, the screwdriver can also be used to disarm weapons and move lifts up/down and from side to side. Fairly soon into the game you meet the doctors future wife (River) and have the opportunity to play as her for a bit. She comes armed with a laser gun which is used to shoot enemies and break through glass walls on at least one level.
If the doctor's constant musings and basic narration of the game/story isn't enough, then fans of the TV series will definitely enjoy the banter between the Doctor and his future Wife which easily lives up to the quality of the show itself.
The game is a episodic romp through the Dr. Who universe allowing the gamer to be the Doctor while using your wits to solve puzzles and limited platforming to get to the next spot in order to progress the storyline. Without a doubt, fans of Dr. Who will enjoy the game experience as ever much as they do the show itself.
I don't recommend this game for anyone who isn't a Dr. Who fan due to the limited gameplay/puzzle solving. Honestly think only fans of Dr. Who are going to find it entertaining, primarily due to their familiarity with the Dr. Who characters and universe.
