Have you tried it yet? How does it compare to Crusader Kings II or Hearts of Iron?

Its so much fun, but its not as much of a grand strategy as CK or HOI like building up your empire since tech didn't change alot from 1805-1820. Its more focused on the war part of the era and trying to get people on your side. So just soldiers and Generals no spys or clergy etc. I had a 14 person multiplayer game last night that was insane.

Myself as GB, Russia, Prussia, Austria, Sweden, teamed against France, Spain, Portugal, Neth, and some small guys and went to war. Sicily and The Ottoman Empire both agreed to join us but once your troops moved toward France the quickly struck at Austria and Russia.
After almost 3 hours we took out Sicily and put OE back in her place and started taking Southern France and its was only 1809.

I would recommend this game and for $20 its cheap too. Also there is a demo coming out soon, week or two. The multiplayer alone is worth it, so go buy it.

And I'll see you in Paris

If you've played EU/HoI/CK you will be right at home. To give you an idea of how this one works is I started as the Ottoman Empire in 1805 and played for 4 or so hours. Austria declared war on me right at the beginning and I've been fighting them ever since. It is September 1806 so it moves at a much slower pace than the other Paradox strat games.

I guess the way I see it is being combat focused like Hearts of Iron but not nearly as much complexity. I did however browse through the MotE manual and didn't even realize all of the available battle tactics. No wonder I am getting steamrolled.

I will say though one criticism is versus large armies they will always retreat and start running mad around the map. Chasing them down is a definite chore. PI needs to patch this.

I picked this up last week and it is really fun. Started as Egypt figured I could muscle my way east but that faded on the third day when ottomans declared war. I was holding my own for a month or so but then they brought a 70k stack just destroyed me cities fell and I went t try another country.

Next I tried Spain after a few years took over Portugal really enjoyed it. Can defiantly see how the multiplayer would be a lot of fun. If anyone wants to play a game add me on steam JWR32
