Very little is known about the xbox 2 right now, it's almost all speculation. Pretty much the only stuff that IGN said was FACT in their articles is who is going to be making the hardware, not any specs on the hardware. IGN speculated that the xbox 2 will be 256MB RAM which basically means more speed. They also say it'll be somewhere around 2.0 GHz processor(but not 64-bit) which also means more speed. The biggest thing the article said was that it said the xbox 2 will run right below the highest end PCs. So we're not looking at a monumental leap here, the graphics will be crisper and everything will be faster, but it's not a PS to PS2 sized jump.
At this point the limiting factor in games is the graphics and the graphics cards used to render them. The harddrive(according to IGN) will be upwards of 40 gigs, and the 256 RAM will be enough, so a lot of it will depend on the graphics card. The best overall thing I can think of is that xbox 2 will keep on improving from the xbox 1 graphics, but it's not going to be a night and day difference, it will be a nice step up in graphic capabilities, but the main advantages will be the bigger harddrive(allowing for bigger downloads off of Live) and other compatability and external features, not in the actual gaming capabilities.
As far as how xbox 2 titles will look, i think Half-Life 2 will be a good indication. The videos of that are run on a graphics card by the company who will make the xbox 2 card and on a very high end PC.
Basically, don't expect a difference like you saw from PS1 to PS2 or other older generation jumps, they are reaching a ceiling on just how good the games can look so both the PS3 and Xbox 2 will be more about other features besides the graphical capabilities.Comment
