Conversly in BF4, although I don't do it all the time, I have a kill just shy of 1.2 km and MANY over 700m

It's the one thing holding it back from being extremely satisfying. A sniper in the same range as sub-machine guns doesn't make a ton of sense.

Still, I will grab it right away and hope for the best as I was still able to enjoy #2 quite a bit.

Its a chance I could get this but the game being so sandbox definitely takes away from what a true sniper is really all about.

          I agree.
I think sandbox is awesome for games like Red Dead Redemption or Grand Theft Auto.
But for certain genre's, I think the game being on rails makes more sense.

I'm definitely interested in seeing more info on Sniper 3. I never played the first 2, but this game looks awesome.
I loved the Hitman Series so adding in sniping as the primary objective and I'm sold.

See, I disagree. On rails you end up run and gun not being a true sniper

Yeah what I meant was a game like this being totally linear. Those kinds of games take away the ability to move around and position yourself wherever you want.

I swore that I would never get suckered into a game from a trailer again and I've been yearning for a good WW2 shooter game, but after watching this trailer.....damn!!!!!!!!!

                  And for those ballistics enthusiasts.

Looks like the same mechanics as SEv2 and I'm OK with that.

                          Re: Sniper Elite V3

I got this on the PS4 yesterday folks. Didn't get much time to play but I went through the first/early second stages and tried deathmatch online.

There's also a day one patch (about 400mb) on the Ps4. From the little time I got to play, its exactly what you think it is. The North African environments do have a very nice vibe (one mission was at night). It had that Medal of Honor Allied Assault scenery feel to it.

Although the graphics do look a little on the rough side (clippings and some rough textures to the fauna) but not ugly (I am a simple gamer anyway so I don't get into detail).

I found the sniping very satisfying (basically if you liked the previous iterations, you're gonna feel right at home). The bullet effect is awesome, the scenery blurs and you just see the bullet warp to your target. It just looks better than the previous one!

Then there's the impact of the bullet and that's just brutal! Take the previous Sniper game, add some Mortal Kombat gore and a painful yell and you're there.

Gameplay wise, the developers definitely encourage stealth from what I saw. Apart from the sniping, you can do stealth kills (I think with a knife..). All the guards also had awareness meters (similar to MGS games). I tried going Rambo and got killed right away (you also carry SMGs, pistols etc..).

Even the sniping encourages stealth in the sense that if you scope out a guard right in the open and shoot, you will be surrounded by everyone before you know it (AI felt very sharp). Guards also speak and yell in German (cool beans yo!).

Multiplayer had like 4 people on it, deathmatch, team deathmach usual affair. Very fast paced, players usually took vantage points on roofs and just turned into a camping fest (what else did we expect?).

I personally would have loved a cover feature (coming from Watch Dogs), I felt this was sorely missing. You don't "glue" to the wall nor is there a cover prompt, there's just crouch (personal opinion).

Again, the graphics are a little rough but all in all, if you liked the previous games, you're gonna love this.

I will get in some more hours but given the World Cup (Vamos Argentina eh?) and report more later.

Feel free to ask me anything; bearing in mind, I am the worst gamer on the planet!

It does but they revamped it so it no longer has a tradition prompt cover system. One of the devs called it a "non-sticky" cover system. That's what I've read anyway.

How could you go to a system that ends up like a COD type system/non system

This also makes me leary. I honestly don't understand how you're supposed to be a sniper, you have to be close to hit guys, then you get found out so easily. Maybe I have the concept of a sniper wrong, but stealth and cover and blending is like the crux of their job.
