I put the disc on the tray it goes to where it says Playstation 2 and then nothing happens. It really pisses me off. I don't want to spend $90 to send it in to sony.

Listen to the disc drive. Does it sound like the disc is trying to load? If it just sits there and makes no sound, then it's probably broken. This same problem happened to my PS2 a couple of years ago. I called Sony and they said I would have to send it in. Like you, I didn't want to do that, so I decided to buy a new one all together.
