    My XBox is acting funny...

I just noticed this in the last couple of days. My XBox is making a lot of noise, as if it's having difficulty reading the discs. Whenever I play a game, the screen will sometimes pause or freeze. The audio also skips at times. I've been getting a lot of DDE's lately, too. These problems occur most often with ESPN NFL, although I've had problems with other games (NCAA Football, Morrowind, WSB 2K3).

The XBox still plays the games, but it looks and sounds like its having to work awfully hard to do so.

By the way I have the XBox with the Thompson DVD drive, and I have the Best Buy replacement plan (expires in November). Any suggestions?

Mine broke down after doing that after 9months. of doing that. IF all systems launch at once, there is no doubt I'll be going with Nintendo's because there reliability is far and away the best.

BTW sending it to MS will cost you $100, but they wiped out your saves and your still stuck with the crap Thompson Drive. So I'd advice you go to an EB and trade it in after transfering your most important files. If your cool with someone there, they won't give you any trouble as they send them back to MS anyways.

can you just get a new one from best buy?

if so I'd definitely do that.

If you can reproduce any tangible problems at Best Buy (they'll take the XBOX to the back, hook it up, and try to play a game on it), 9 times out of 10 they'll just give you a new one. That's what I'd do, if you're confident that any game they throw on there will cause the problems you cite. You may want to bring your own games, but they may just want to use ones they know are in working condition. That said, you may want to suggest that it only happens with certain games (if that is, in fact, the case). For some reason my XBOX wouldn't play the Platinum Hits version of Hitman 2, no matter how many copies I exchanged. I haven't tried any other platinum hits games, but I was considering turning mine in for that. I ended up not doing it because I just got the regular version of Hitman 2 and that worked fine, and I've experienced no other problems. I'll have to test out another Platinum Hits game when I get a chance before my Best Buy Service plan runs out, because I wouldn't want to be stock with an XBOX that plays all games fine except for platinum hits.

Since my service plan is good until November, I think I'll hold onto this one a little while and see if it gets any worse before I get a new one. Like I said, it still plays the games, just with a few hiccups here and there.

                      Thanks for the advice, guys.
