Re: Open World Games
Morrowinds: Elder Scrolls III is always a good one, too.
Others that are big are the Assassin's Creed, Far Cry series and one of my favorite games of all-time, Just Cause 2.--
Have you ever wanted to coach or play basketball at the next level, but something prevented you from achieving that dream? Fret no more. Ask me about SimWorld Hoops to see how you can create your virtual self, and follow your path from the prep-level to the pros.

Re: Open World Games
I second this. There's also Far Cry 3.
Another suggestion I highly recommend: the Assassin's Creed Series (starting from 2 and on, skip the first one) If you're on the PS3, you could get inFamous or inFamous 2. These few suggestions aren't really GTA esque, but they're really good open-world games with good stories.
This genre isn't thin at all, in my opinion.Comment

Mafia 2 is kind of open world. I loved it.Comment

Re: Open World Games
Retro City Rampage
Beyond Good & Evil
Omikron: The Nomad Soul (I spent most of my playtime with that at the in game David Bowie concerts so maybe it's not as open world as I think...but I do remember going into a supermarket and beating up the guys that were robbing it.)Comment

Check out the Yakuza series. I had a lot of laughs playing Yakuza 4. The voice acting is great also.Comment
