Titanfall (Xbox One/360/PC)
Been watching the beta streams for awhile, I'm a bit underwhelmed. May just be me though.

Re: Titanfall (Xbox One/360/PC)
Seems kinda easy to jump on a mech and destroy it.
It would be neat to see a destructible world where a mech could fall into a build a destroy it and alter the map. It would be crazy to be fighting in a building when a dead mech falls through and takes out half the building.Comment

Re: Titanfall (Xbox One/360/PC)
Just finished watching some gameplay. I'm excited for the game but it doesn't blow me away. Looks like your typical FPS with much mechs. Hope I get into the beta so I can play it for myself.Xbox LIVE GT: oALEXtheGREATo

Re: Titanfall (Xbox One/360/PC)
The pilots (i.e. your player character when you aren't controlling a mech) are supposed to be very nimble and agile as compared to the mechs; heck, you can run on walls and double-jump, a la Mirrors Edge. If you try to take on a Titan on the ground face-on, you are royally screwed and will likely get obliterated post haste, but you have options to engage a Titan if you are simply on the map and know where one is, or if its combat focus is away from you.
I can't think of a recent console shooter which plays anything like Titanfall did when on foot. The closest comparison I can draw (specifically with respect to player character movement) is Quake III Arena and other faster 'twitch' PC shooters. I mention Quake III in particular due to the rocket jumping mechanic it included, as when I played Titanfall in late December I felt a sense of verticality in its gameplay that I simply have never had in any other console shooter, or any multiplayer shooter in a long while to be honest. Having so much freedom of movement is one of many huge draws to the game for me, personally.
I'm hoping to get into the beta (and if so, find an XBOX One to even play the beta on, lol), but if that doesn't come to pass I'll impatiently wait until March and have a nice late birthday present.Comment

Re: Titanfall (Xbox One/360/PC)
And it is easy, when people don't use teamwork and have their teammates ride their Titan until they get the call for their Titan to drop. It's easy for people to sit back and talk about stuff when they are not in the action. But when they are in the action a lot of what they are talking about need not even exist. Also there is a perk in the game for your Titan to detect enemy pilots even when cloaked.Comment

Re: Titanfall (Xbox One/360/PC)
Titanfall is great. There is no getting around that, much like there is no getting around a giant robot's titanic rhino…
This interview pretty much sums this game up...
Seems to me like it's just going to be another run of the mill bland shooters. I mean I wanted to think this was going to be the start of change from EA but it isn't.
Not only is it clearly a console port they don't really care about but it just looks to be really half baked.
This is why video games in 2014 are so depressing... Thank you AAA gaming. I really hope the predicted crash of AAA gaming is true, it really needs to go.Comment
