Re: Titanfall (Xbox One/360/PC)
I just don't understand at all how Titanfall and NBA can be 40+ GB in size. It is totally mind boggling to me. I have no idea where all that data is coming from.Comment

Re: Titanfall (Xbox One/360/PC)
Both games have a crap ton of animations. It isn't really a surprise to me. And if all that stuff included in the art-book is also making its way into the game? The scope of the game is going to be pretty big, too.Writer for Operation Sports

Re: Titanfall (Xbox One/360/PC)
And as for the titanfall bundle I'm a little pissed off. I'm going to call Microsoft and see if I can't get a free dload of titanfall considering I just got a Xbone 2 days ago.....-_-.
Prob not going to happen but it's worth a shot. What department would I even call about that?
Edit: disregard the titanfall bundle post. Forgot it's releasing the 11th. Lol.

Man, MS is really throwing their weight around with this game. I can't wait to get official confirmation of modes and maps. I will be going digital, so I hope pre-downloading makes a return after the March system update.XBL: Mean Greene

http://2game.com/titanfall-for-pc with promotion. Only thing I'm not sure is is that it is a UK account so may not work on US Origin? Not sure if Origin is region locked like that.Comment

Re: Titanfall (Xbox One/360/PC)
The PC version installed is 48GB??? Add on top of that the fact that I have to deal with Origin and they are making it very difficult to justify buying the game even though I started to enjoy it at toward the end of the beta.
Origin is what it is and you just have to deal with it, but 48GB, really. This is getting to be a joke. I'd rather them release the PC version later so they have time to compress it properly.Comment

I don't know if this total lack of compression will solve that clear optimization issue but maybe the game will look nice, or it will just be bloated with cutscenes.
Regarding the cutscenes I think that may be why the lobbies are so long, to allow time for them to add their story or whatever to the game.
But still 48 GB for a game on the source engine is absolutely INSANE.
I own games that are way more demanding than this, look way better and run a lot better too and none of them are even close to this size.Comment

Re: Titanfall (Xbox One/360/PC)
I'm glad I'm not the only one who finds this totally insane. I saw how the game (barely) ran on a PC easily twice as powerful as an XBO. It was capped at 60 and would constantly drop to 30 ish for no reason.

I did notice that the textures in the beta were horrendous though and are supposed to be very different in final release so I understand they would be larger, but the more detail that starts going into these games the more they are going to need to be compressed properly (or even better move to progressively/procedurally generated) or else they are just going to continue to snowball until we get to 100GB installs.
I know that installing Titanfall on my SSD is only going to improve my menu and load times not actual gameplay but its those load times and my impatience that caused me to get an SSD in the first place. And 48GB is almost $50 in memory space. Far too much for an online only FPS of 6v6.Last edited by Dogslax41; 02-26-2014, 10:48 AM.Comment

Re: Titanfall (Xbox One/360/PC)
In terms of performance I had ZERO issues with the Beta, which surprised me given how graphically demanding I thought the game would be, but I do have a pretty good machine.

It's very clear that (for reasons unknown) this game is a resource hog. The 3 GB GPU memory for insane textures is a bit much if you ask me. I've seen lesser GPUs run insane textures for much better looking games with no problems.Comment

Re: Titanfall (Xbox One/360/PC)
Do you have FRAPS or some other frame rate counter? If so were you able to get anything above 60 fps? My brother wasn't on his PC which is where I played the game but I do know he can run RO2, Crysis and BF3/4 on high settings with no problems but he was having issues with the Tfall beta where it wouldn't go above 60 and it would drop for seemingly no reason.

3GB GPU is up there especially for a game like this but I don't have any problems with those demands because the game I almost exclusively play is DCS and that is a heavy drain on GPU memory so I built my pc with that in mind.Comment
