    Re: Halo 5

It's a map editor that was introduced in Halo 3. You can make changes to a variety of different things on maps, like spawn points, weapons, add objects, change properties, and create your own maps in prebuilt spaces with prebuilt assets.

    More info:

Forge is a gamemode in Halo 3, Halo: Reach, Halo 4, Halo 2: Anniversary and Halo 5: Guardians.[1][2] It allows for both playing and editing multiplayer maps.[3][4] Forge is a game mode originally released in Halo 3 designed by Bungie to allow players to customize, save, and share maps for Custom Games. Forge was originally created to be used by players to make relatively simple changes to maps in order to tweak their gameplay experience. Maps altered in Forge are referred to as map variants...

Good to hear. I loved playing all the custom game types on custom maps back in Halo 3 and Reach. Duck Hunt was always my favorite.

Agree with what's said near the end:

Utilizing a fixed platform to its full potential without exceeding a strict frame rate budget often leads to the most polished of gaming experiences. In fact, it's an approach not unlike that of Nintendo itself. This is how console gaming should be. We've seen it with Metal Gear Solid V recently and we're seeing it again with Halo 5, hopefully this becomes something of a trend.

Destiny is one of the few exceptions, but not everybody cares about input latency like Bungie does. Despite being 30fps, they go out of their way to reduce and hide it. This is why Destiny feels so great to actually play, because it almost feels like the response time of a game locked at 60fps.

Frames are calculated after the first visible green light till the first in-game action. All input lag tests were recorded at 120 frames per second for better accuracy. Input lag is calculated as an average of 20 button presses. Average input lag is rounded up to the nearest 0.1 frame. Monitor input lag is included […]

Before TTK Destiny's 30fps was very apparent. Now, however, it is much better, though clearly not 60fps.

Halo 5: Guardians Warzone multiplayer gameplay on the new map Raid on Apex 7. Final score of 1000-924.

See a full, 30-minute match of the most epic Warzone round you'll ever see. The score almost literally couldn't have been closer. IGN Halo fans Sean Finnegan and Jared Petty talk you through the action.

Digital Foundry: Hands-on with Halo 5: Guardians

No matter how many enemies or effects are on screen, we see an almost complete adherence to 60 frames per second. Delivering a frame-rate this consistent is an incredibly impressive feat - the kind of achievement typically reserved for first-party Nintendo games or, more recently, Metal Gear Solid 5.

The question is - how is this achieved? The answer is simple; 343 has taken an approach similar to that of Rage, Wolfenstein The New Order, and WipEout HD - dynamic resolution scaling. By adjusting the resolution according to GPU load, Halo 5 is able to consistently reach its 16.67ms frame-time objective. It's a very impressive implementation too, bearing in mind how infrequent dropped frames are, to the point that they are essentially unnoticeable during play.
Fortunately, based on what we've seen so far in this build, campaign mode gameplay tends to hang around 1344x1080, during which it's fair to say full HD is fleetingly attained during big set-piece battles, such as encounters with the giant Kraken in a later mission. Interior areas inevitably hold up better in this sense, with less strain put on the engine when the level design funnels the player in one direction. The pay-off is clear though; 60fps is locked at practically all times, while image quality shifts up and down the scale to ensure this consistency.
Halo 5's new Warzone mode is the real show-stopper though. With among the largest maps yet seen in Halo series' history, our hands-on with the Raid on Apex 7 stage had 24 players battling across a vast island - filled with caverns, woodland flourishes and mountainous outcrops. With all manner of vehicles, purchasable upgrades and MOBA-style mid-bosses in play too, this is Halo 5's engine stressed to a limit not seen in the campaign so far.

It's in this map that we see Halo 5's dynamic resolution hitting the lowest value mentioned above, giving a noticeably muddier image when compared to the game's other modes. In a sense this is unfortunate, given visibility over long stretches of terrain does takes a hit - particularly across foliage elements - though the vibrant colour palette of both squads helps to track the opponent at range. But crucially, 60fps is again a reigning standard in this taxing mode; gameplay remains as fluid as the Arena and Campaign here, despite hugely pushing the boat out on its scope of play.
While these issues are significant, this is the reality of aiming for 60fps in a game like Halo 5. Dialling up frame-rate at the expense of image quality is a brave move and one that is sure to stir up controversy bearing in mind the visual trade-offs, but arguably, this is the best choice for a shooter - it's a decision that puts the quality of the gameplay first.

Finally stepped into next gen yesterday and ordered an Xbone, pretty much for this game alone. Looking at that Warzone stuff, I don't think I'm going to be disappointed...looks fun as hell. Got Master Chief Collection coming with my system to hold me over until this gets released.
