I'm a huge Halo fan, and like the single player, but never thought much of the story. I barely remember what even happened in Halo 3 and 4. I remember the first 2 games but that's because I've replayed Halo 1's story dozens of times. Like Flawless said, what makes Halo's single player stand out is the open ended encounters. Assault on the Control Room is still my favorite mission in any shooter of all time. That first time you step outside and have to take down 2 Wraiths, a few Ghosts, and Covenant in turrets is always the first scene I think about when I think of Halo' single player.

GAF has gone on meltdown over the story in H5. It really surprises me, not sure what people have been expecting. Halo is not Oscar worthy material, but the story they have been telling across all the games have been enjoyable IMO. I so wish that Reach was available as a remaster on the X1 somehow, I really liked that game and story quite a bit. I think the Locke/Chief cat and mouse story is quite intriguing to me and can't wait to see where it leads by the end. I'll take whatever story that is trying to be told in Halo over some of these other games anyday. For example, Killzone 2 and 3 tried to tell a story yet they messed it up in Shadowfall.

My one wish is that I hope we never see The Flood again, do I hate that species. LOL! They are so menacing.

GAF meltdowns over everything though. Great source for videogame news, but discussion-wise, that site can be a real cesspool a lot of times.

I agree, that GAF is a good place for gaming news but the forums can get annoying at times......especially today with all the H5 reviews. Oh well, I don't care what these reviewers and people on forums think.

Game is an 85 on metacritic right now. I don't care about reviews at all but reading through comments on other sites you would think this game had a score of about 56.

Just beat solo legendary.

Any time a new Halo comes out I always play through the campaign on Normal the first time through so I can focus strictly on the story and then I go back through on Legendary for the challenge.

Was just wondering if anyone else does that type of thing?

Reviews and whatnot for exclusive games comes with extra nonsense.

Nah I feel that halo on normal is not experiencing the game the way it was meant to be played. At least for me.
