After SE's inexplicable obsession with trying to force FF XIII into being a hit that it just wasn't going to be, I thought that I might be done with FF. I need to see more, but I think I may give this game a chance. At first glance the combat reminds me of Dragon Age Inquisition, I'm O.K. with that especially if they add a tactical cam, like DAI, but with more detailed A.I. scripts for the party members that you aren't controlling.

No future FF will be loved(IMO) like, 3(6 here in the US), 7, 10, or the now finally getting it's due respect 12, the nostalgia factor is too powerful, but this can be a solid game that gets people to care about the series again.

Only quoting this to say you have it slightly backwards. Final Fantasy 6 was released in the US as Final Fantasy 3, not the other way around.
And 10 is lucky that 13 came around to take the "worst recent FF game" title from it.

Agree about 10, because I think that game is VERY overrated. Super shallow story with boring characters. I think it's held in higher regard than it should be just because it was the first PS2 FF game and first to have voice acting. 10 is definitely on my lower end of favorite FF games.

I've been very adamant about saying 10 is my favorite, and it's looking like it's not going to change anytime soon with the looks of XV.

I don't know if it will be terrible, but it won't be my preferred FF style. XIII was a big adjustment in itself.

Call me old fashioned, but I'll take a turn-based RPG over what XV is supposed to be. Of course, that doesn't mean I won't give it a fair shot.

X had a good combat system (the last good one in an FF game, MMOs not withstanding.) X had Blitzball. X had voice acting. X had good (for the time) graphics.

That's literally all the good I can say about X. The story was terrible. The characters were almost all terrible. They ruined their shot at making Sin cool, giving it the dumbest explanation they could think of. It started the linearity (I guess that's a word, there's no red squiggle under it) of the series. Backtracking? You better pick stuff up the first time around. Not to mention the horrendous lightning mini-game. Bad writing, bad voice acting (which, I can't knock them for too much since it was the first foray for voice acting in FF) and a plethora of other problems. Not to mention how horrible Tidus was, and how downright stupid his part in the story is.

If X was the first one you played before digging into others in the series I can see how it may hold a special place in your gaming log though.

Yeah I don't like real time combat much. I much prefer the turnbased system.

I'm excited for 15. 13 and its cousins were such letdowns. I LOVED 12, and 15 seems to have picked up in some ways were 12 left off from a style and gameplay standpoint, eight years and two systems later.

As for X, I liked it, but not one of my favorites. 9 is the one that I hate. Sticks out like a sore thumb or an ugly cousin in the FF family. Just awful, like it was outsourced to someone else and they failed miserably.

I have to say I do miss the old school turn based combat. I kind of wish we could stick to "our roots" a little more often with technology/entertainment, but it seems like every aspect of games has to be "innovative" now.

Final Fantasy Tactics might be my favorite game of all time. That was the first game I spent 100+ hours playing. I must have been in sixth grade, maybe 7th. Just a phenomenal game.

I have FFTA for the GBA-SP. I've never played the original one for PSX so I don't know what the differences are between the two but man I love Tactics Advance. I put over 100 hours in it myself and used to take my Game Boy with me everywhere to put time in when I could spare it. Great game.

I'm not going to knock it until I try it because I don't see it being worse then 13, but yeah i'm going to really miss the turn based.
