Prison Architect - Indie PC Prison Sim

This game is made by Introversion Software. It is in alpha stage and can be purchased from steam or their actual website and you get access to all alphas, betas, and full game when it releases.

If you love sims, this is an AMAZING game. It is very well done, still got a lot of bugs, etc but it is in alpha. They keep adding more every build (which has been released roughly every month) Alpha 9/10 were big updates.

Figured we could share our prisons here and talk about the game!

Here is the beginning of mine, I have 8 normal risk prisoners... (Yes, I planted grass to make it look nice for them LOL)

Re: Prison Architect - Indie PC Prison Sim

I read in an interview that you can decide who leaves on parole and who has done things that make them stay longer etc.. I can't wait. I cannot hold more than 12 prisoners, I keep getting attacked and they break out lol.

Also, they said they were adding luxery cells. Meaning that some cells that you make with windows, tvs, etc will make prisoners behave more cause they do not wanna lose cell, make others jealous, etc.

It sounds like they are going all out. Cannot wait to see more.

I swear they had a prison game like this before many years ago.

Saw this on Steam and thought about giving it a go, but it didn't look like a top tier game, the graphics were lacking, and the $29.99 didn't seem to mach the quality the game 'appeared' to deliver.

Do you guys think the game is worth the $30 they are asking?

Re: Prison Architect - Indie PC Prison Sim

Here is the thing to understand, it is in alpha, it is an AMAZING game already, it is improved so much every month (that is when a new build is released), by time this gets to full release it would be worth $50 to me. I have been playing this nonstop.

This is not an easy tycoon/sim game. I have been through 4 prisons with none working.. It is trial and error. There is so much more to it then just building a prison.

As far as graphics, these are perfect for this game. I absolutely love them and would hate any change. Read the stories of the inmates and you would see why realistic graphics would suck.

For $30, I had said before (on alpha 5, never touched it again until build 9) I would wait, but now into alpha 11, this a must have for any time management game lovers.

Here is my newest prison, 20 inmates (this is the longest one I have had so far and I just started LOL)

It's an early access game so it costs more at the moment. I'm sure the offical release will only be $15 or $20.

Early access cost less per stage Alpha, Beta, Retail is my understanding.

                    Arma 3
                    Alpha $34
                    Beta $44
                    Retail $59

Guess it depends on the game. Planetary Annihilation isn't going to be $90 retail.

Planetary Annihilation is priced that way because of the Kickstarter. If you gave $90 you got access to the Alpha which is why its priced like that on Steam.

I wish I looked at some of these tutorial videos last night.

I finished the intro without a problem, but when I created my own prison I didn't have enough money for electricity and water. (I wasn't aware of getting grants from the government.) I built the holding cell, office, kitchen and canteen. But when those prisoners came they didn't have any water for the toilet.

Needless to say they escaped rather promptly afterwards.

I look forward to digging in this game more and finding out all the little nuances.

The new alpha build 12 will be here very soon, one build per month.
