If this is the case, then I hope PS3 DOES have a hard drive! The hard drive on the Xbox is one of the most innovative and useful features ever to grace a home video game console. Ever since the Playstation came out, I was frustrated with them starting a new trend of having game manufacturers not have savable space on their games, but rather programming them so one can no longer save their progress on the game media itself. Like with game cartridges. Now, you have to BUY the ability to save! A feature that should have NEVER become an upgrade in the first place. Saving game progress should have remained a standard with all video games. Just like the game manual. It should be part of the package.
Along comes Xbox, freeing us gamers from those damned memory cards FOREVER. "Thank you Microsoft!" Now I am hearing that the hard drive might be ditched? NO! BIG mistake MS! You let the genie out of the bottle, letting us gamers know that you care about what they think, say, want, and most of all, will purchase. The Xbox hard drive allows us to keep all of our game info (as well as music) in one nice, neat place. Now instead of fumbling around for the correct memory card to correspond with the correct game we are about to play, we just put in the game disk and away we go!
Microsoft, if you are listening out there, KEEP the hard drive for Xbox 2. I had no problem forking over the $300 for my Xbox when it was new. Why? Because I knew I was actually getting something worth my money. If you go to additional external memory options that have to be purchased to save game progress, guess who will NOT be purchasing this neXt game system?Comment
