Looks like the are using the Powermac G5's in the test xbox 2's. This thing should be pretty darn powerful. Isnt the G5 the fastest cpu on the market? The story is from the inquirer so take it for what its worth.

Its not really that early. They have to have the machines in the hands of developers way in advance before the launch of a new console.
As far as the the CPU goes... it could happen. I would just be suspect as they would have to port the NT kernel to a new processor. So I find it hard to believe. Check out their Xbox Live site.. they have not updated the game list in over a freaking year. Microsoft just screams with apathy.
