I think its pretty ****ty how R* can slide without anybody calling them out on it, but its GTA so it gets a free pass.
It's not that. As I mentioned in my last two posts:

    1) Their big online stuff for GTA IV didn't come until many months later. It's best we go by their past and assume we'll still be getting big stuff in due time.

    2) We're perturbed now, but when they're released I think that's all that will matter. Just like when you're starving at a restaurant and waiting on that food; it may berate you when you don't have it, but once you do nothing else really will matter.

No, life is too short to complain about a video game.

If you don't like it, move on. It's that simple.

Having so much hatred for a company because of unfulfilled promises.. Do you really think that will you get anywhere?

Go to the Madden forums for the BLVD of Broken Dreams.

I'm not giving them a pass for not releasing Heists, but I'm also not going to be pissed off about it that I won't play a game I paid $60 for. I play the game, I have fun. End of story.

Both of those points would more in line with DLC which isn't typically marketed and featured heavily as pre-release build-up and excitement. The heists were essentially all the Online impressions and features were promoting and hyping up. My impression was it was a day-one online feature until they disabled it near the game's launch. Nearly 6 months later and its not implemented. What I find so bizarre about it is how they've essentially swept it under the rug offering little to no details on its progress or an ETA date. For a feature that was so prominent in the marketing blitz leading up to its release as an "included, day-one" feature to not even have any information on it 6 months after release is disappointing.

Its a great game. I got my money's worth. I'm over the "where the **** are the heists" drum-beat at every drop of the hat, but to completely dismiss it is silly.

The only problem I have with the whole heist thing is that it has driven those I played with away. Other than that I am fine with the delay as I have been having fun anyway. I guess my expectations weren't as high for online so I have been happy with it anyway.

Meanwhile I've managed to blow all of my in game money over the past couple weeks, gonna have to start doing jobs and races again to build it up so I can stay loaded on ammo for when heists do come...and to mod my newest car purchase.

I gotcha. I always thought it was DLC, since I avoided reading much stuff pre-release about this game.

But like I said, if they treat it as DLC later (and even charge for it), I won't be up in arms if it's actually a massive thing. Or if they release more stories in general, actually...

i was gonna come and pretty much say the same thing. the GTA 4 DLC came out a long time after release (forgot it was 10 months later).

on top of that, they never mentioned the Heists would be available on day 1 of online launch although i would have expected them by now the way they were talking about it.

That's 100% what happened to me, I enjoyed it for awhile but as the wait for heists kept dragging on and on I ended up losing interest in it completely then finally just sold off my PS3 and moved on entirely. It would have been a lot of fun if and when they finally released but I have a feeling they would have been cookie cutter heists and felt repetitive pretty quickly similar to most the jobs I seemed to do with the Son.

Actually I've posted the links before backing it up but unlike the GTA 4 DLC, the Heists and content creator were promised 'within the first few weeks of online going live'. The content creator was released almost 5 months after online was released. That is why people got upset about it. It was promises that were never delivered and with Heists not even acknowledged. I mean honestly if they were having problems making the deadline it's understandable but at least acknowledge it. It took until the end of them to even mention it and all they said was 'Heists will be released in 2014'. No

"we apologize for not being able to make deadline"
                    or
"due to the problems with online we have had to delay the release"

But not even acknowledging it is just poor business model.

I'll see if I can refind the article announcing it so it's not just my word.

To put it simply I've moved on after being horribly disappointed in what could have been such a great online experiance with such promise. I still play time to time with friends when I want to mess around but with no depth or substance in the online portion I have mostly written it off.

I am however waiting for single player DLC which I do have hope for. Oh which further strengths my argument. Why no mass complaints about lack of single player DLC? Oh cause it wasn't promised within the first few weeks/months. So I'm willing to wait patiently for that.

I found a couple links plus the post I originally made about it.

                      http://www.examiner.com/article/gta-...-and-other-dlc

And the link in my original post at the bottom of the article states......

" Currently Planned GTA Online Content Updates:
Here is a quick overview of a few initial things we’re working on for the first few weeks of Grand Theft Auto Online, alongside an aggressive period of tuning and finessing the game. We will give you dates for all of this content as soon as we have them – bear in mind that the order of things may well change, and we will probably add some extra stuff as well!

The Content Creator: The Content Creator will launch with tools to tailor and publish your own Deathmatches & Races.
                      *
The Beach Bum Pack: Featuring 4 new amazing beach fun vehicles, over 300 new items of incredible down tempo leisure wear and 2 new but not remotely relaxing weapons.
                      *
Capture the Flag: GTA Online’s take on the classic CTF mode including the ability to make your own using The Content Creator.
                      *
Heists: This update will introduce full-on cooperative Heist missions that will require careful planning, teamwork and sharp execution – along with the Heist Planning Board for your apartment.
Just to be clear, all of these updates will be free. We’ll have more info on this and much more additional content as our plans develop through the launch period, and as we get feedback from you. Please stay tuned for further info and updates. And remember – we need your help to make this experience all it can be."

This was posted from the official Rockstar website on September 25th, 2013.

Even in the official trailer for GTA Online at.

At 1:10 even alludes to Heists being accessible right off the bat. So this along with everything else should go to show that it was heavily advertised as something that would be in the game almost from the very start. The only thing on that list that even somewhat made the timeframe was the Beach bum pack and that was a month and a half after release of Online.

It was one of their biggest marketing angles from the get go was the ability to "play heists with friends" and things like the content creator.

That link from Rockstar near the very bottom is just one of the many places that they advertised these things within a few weeks.

So in that respect they really dropped the ball. If EA has taught any company anything it is don't make promises you can't keep. So while the DLC was good for being free, it's utterly disappointing seeing that we are still waiting for the big things to be included (mainly heists and the content creator).

All that to say I think we all would have rather they had waited a bit longer to officially release online until most of all the bugs and glitches were worked out that way they weren't wasting all their time scrambling to salvage what they can of their product to a much smaller playerbase that is still around (since a good chunk has left for the ps4). I have the feeling that once they do finally release heists it'll be so far down the line that only a handful of people will care (which is sad cause GTA: Online was really fun until I ran out of fun stuff to do that isn't just messing around in free roam).

As for the missions I was not expecting (hoping yes, expecting no) missions from Martin, Gerald, etc. I was however expecting a little more variety from the quick job missions (things like Top Gun and Crooked Cop).

Like I said I've moved on and have a feeling that with the way everything went down I probably would have been disappointed with it anyways (like I was with the content creator). All I'm doing at this point is mearly informing that the situation is vastly different than the GTA 4 DLC.

Re: Grand Theft Auto V Online

Personally I think heists are going to be a major letdown(if they are released) unless they integrate them into free roam to make it more seamless, they will probably just be beefed up missions for the most part. I'm more interested to see if they open up the casino, make the prison useful, and/or add San Fierro/Las Venturas etc map expansion. Also, I'd like to be able to own more property and steal others cash they are carrying(not just $200) but hackers probably killed that for good.

My theory is that Rockstar simply wasn't prepared for this magnitude of a game, and at this point with the cash card sales, they are just taking it slow and raking in the money. If activity/sales drop, they can always release heists or whatever other big plans they have to keep people interested.

Found another way to have fun. Played late this past weekend, and managed to get all my cars blown up except one. I called the Mechanic and he brought over my modded Sandking. i haven't driven this thing probably since the first day Online was out.. so I forgot how much it could be.

I literally just gained speed, and started ramming every user that I came across. I especially loved the ones that are just stopped in the middle of traffic and I'm going full speed. I've never seen an Adder flip so many times in my life.
