    Re: Hearthstone

I just started playing this on my phone this week, man is it addicting. I haven't read the thread yet, but I need to look into crafting etc... Still trying to get all the players to level 10.

Is the best course of action right now is to play Play Now Casual and just rank every one up to a 10?

Yes, thats about the best strategy. The best thing for a new player is to learn the basics of each class and all the cards. There have been 2 adventures and 1 expansion since the basic set release so there are a lot of cards to learn about. However, certain cards are going to be in almost every deck type (for example fireballs for mages, swipes for druids, etc.). With time you will be able to recognize what style of deck your opponent is playing and will be able to anticipate what cards they are playing, which will help you plan your turns.

You will want to be familiar with basic deck strategies (aggro, control, combo, etc.). One good resource is hearthhead, they have articles on various deck archetypes to read about and learn strategies.

      http://www.hearthhead.com/guides=300

Once you get to level 10, your best bet for winning games is to build a warlock zoo deck. This is basically a deck full of really cheap minions, and the idea is you flood the board with minions and overwhelm your opponent. The warlock hero power is great for this because you can draw an extra card every turn and still often play 2 minions. Here is a very basic zoo-lock deck list with all basic cards, there are fancier and shinier versions but you will definitely win games early on with this deck

      http://www.hearthhead.com/deck=10665...basic-zoo-lock

Once you feel more comfortable and want to start getting more cards, Arena is a great way to get more gold and dust. But I wouldn't start that until you are pretty familiar with all the classes. Casual mode uses your MMR so you will be playing against other new players, whereas arena only pits you against people with your same number of wins.....so you could play against a vary experienced player which would put you at a big disadvantage

        Re: Hearthstone

        Thanks for the tips.

I did go ahead and buy Naxxaras, pretty fun, but tough.

I tried some Arena games before and got slaughtered. I think I have one win in three Arena tries.

I also bought some classic packs yesterday and got a few good cards, I think.

Played my first ranked match and won as well.

          Re: Hearthstone

I tried to build the Warlock set, but I am missing some cards still. I only have 1 Flame Imp, 1 Doomguard and 1 Knife Juggler.

I don't have Abusive Segeant, Dire Wolf Alpha, Defender of Argus or Loatheb Naxx.

Looks like I still got a lot of work to do for some of these basic cards. I have every character to at least 10 ranking.

For Arena I recommend using http://www.heartharena.com/ for new players.

You put in 3 cards you have to choose from and the site will show you what the best picks are. It helps not only with telling you what cards are better, but also makes sure you build a deck that has a good mana curve. For example, in Arena you want around 6-8 minions you can play on turn 2.

Yeah, its going to take a while. If you want to spend $ buying classic packs is a great idea. If you want to do F2P, its gonna take a while. Do your daily quest every day, and remember that you can re-roll them, so if your daily quest is to win 5 games as rogue or druid and you don't have any good decks with them, just hit the red x in the corner and you can roll another quest that might be easier.

Another good class is hunter. I would go with a basic beast deck, and hit your hero power every turn you can. Heres a basic beast hunter list from Hearthpwn (IMO the best resource for deckbuilding)

Anyone still playing? I got back into it a few days ago, read some info about the upcoming Old Gods expansion and ended up preordering 50 packs for it.

Enjoying the tavern brawl mode, that's new since I had stopped playing (after season 3 I think I quit).

I still play fairly regularly. Mostly in Arena though as ranked play is just a mess with everyone playing Druid and Secret Paladin.

Eagerly awaiting the Standard and Wild formats that are coming with the new card expansion. It will definitely shake up the stale meta.

I still play regularly. Mix of arena and constructed.

I keep hearing they are going to nerf the force/roar combo for druid, can't wait for that, just such a boring play style. played 4 games last night, 3 were against combo druid, so dull.

Yeah, I'm interested to see what basic cards are getting changed. I know one of the lead designers said they were looking at around 20 cards they were thinking of changing. One or both of Force of Nature/Savage Roar needs to be nerfed. Knowing Blizzard whatever card they nerf will become unplayable (Starving Buzzard, Warsong Commander).

I do wish some of the cards from Nax/GvG were staying in standard play. Loatheb was such a cool unique card and he wasn't used in that many decks. Interested to see if they introduce a card with a similar effect.

On the other hand I'll glad that we don't have to see Dr. Boom, Piloted Shredder, and Mad Scientist anymore.

Yeah I will miss certain cards for sure. My one fear is that aggro is really gonna take over, we are losing zombie chow, healbot, sludge belcher, haunted creeper.

I think aggro shaman could be really tough to deal with if we don't get good anti-aggros tools.

Thats a cool website, I'm going to try it out.

I started playing when it came out & got some nice Legendarys back in the day but then stopped playing. Once I bought a Note 5 I installed & started to play & hooked again. Cool that I get to keep all my old cards but I see they added a million new cards since I played last. I think they highest Arena wins I got was 8.
